I was surprised by this odd bracket taking the spring tension. I can see why it would be prone to breakage and is the first thing to go wrong with these awesome little axes. I guess Yamaha decided a full Strat-type steel block supporting 3,4 or 5 springs would be too massy and create the wrong tone. It's really an odd combination of Strat and Bigsby/Mosrite design.
