Landlocked surfer in ATL - former semi-pro "hair nation" guitarist, hung up the guns & stacks of Marshalls - looking to maintain musical sanity with a good instrumental outfit.

Welcome to SG101! Good luck; the southern US seems to be burgeoning in the potential for instrumental stuff. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

Welcome aboard Serfdog! Let's meet up for a beer! Don't feel bad about the guns and Marshall stacks...... I used to sneak around under the surf radar playing in a wedding band. Right on, thanks you guys. Probably should have gone this route years ago. I've dug this material for aeons...just never knew the scene here in ATL was as deeply rooted as I'm being told it is. Who knew? |

Hi Surfdog, Welcome to SG101 and the Atlanta surf music scene. Be sure to check out the monthly surf show at Kavarna. It's called the Southern Surf Stomp and it's held the second Saturday of each month. More local surf music information can be found at southernsurfstomp.blogspot.com -Tim —-Tim |

Cool, cool, cool! Can't make the show next month, not going to be in town. But definitely soon. What's the formula around here? Covers of the classics, original stuff, or a mix? Last edited: Mar 22, 2016 19:19:22 |

Currently in Southern Surf circles, Most of the groups are doing mostly originals. There are a lot of really well done originals being formulated these days. Pretty amazing really. I for one really miss the classics though. I've been fiddling around with instros and surf since the '60s and I never get tired of beating them around. All good.
