So my band, SANDBLAST, is preparing to go into the studio soon. We are not so popular that most any "regular" label would not likely be interested at this juncture, but we are getting requests for our music fairly routinely.
We are presently mulling over the various online options such as Bandcamp, Tunecore, Itunes, CD Baby, etc. for distribution. One can read the various distributor's pro's and con's per the distributors.
We'd be very interested to hear anybody's thoughts, experiences, opinions about what worked or didn't work for them and why. Do any of these seem to do better for surf/instrumental than the competitors?
Other ideas?
Thanks,
mj

We do Bandcamp as our "direct from the artist" portal to buy the LP, the CD, and the digital versions. Both albums are in iTunes. I think the first is on Spotify, but fuck Spotify. Terrible platform.
You aren't going to sell a lot of copies, all of our albums have always sold abysmally online and we definitely sell the most anytime we ever play a show. Bandcamp is hands down our most effective platform.

I'll 2nd Bandcamp for online.
I'd suggest an EP cd for physical sale, priced to move. It's really one of the best ways to share your music and further promote the band when performing live. Great for giveaways as well.
