Permalink Band Logos...Let's See 'Em!

New Topic
Goto Page: 1 2 3 4 5 Next

One of the many things I enjoy about Surf, is that it is an extremely visual genre. From the instruments on stage to cover design and merch, a lot of care is given to presentation and the little nuances that make it hip and fun. And if you are actively performing in a band, the most basic visual element you promote is the logo. So let's see 'em!

I love the work of Austin graphic artist- Mike Guerrero, and we were lucky to get him to design our "Boss Pelican" logo. We've used the logo on t-shirts, decals and buttons and it's been a great promtional image for us. (BTW, you may also know Mike from his awesome guitar work in the Sir Finks and The Thunderchiefs.)

Can I buy one of your decals? I'll put it on my tank or other conspicuous place on my gear.
I find cool decals are not easy to locate, even in LA. So far the only place i've found many 'subcultural' decals (no bands tho) is at La Luz de Jesus gallery, kitsch & schlock shop in East Hollywood.

Squink Out!

Man-o-MAN! This logo is killer. I love it. I gotta look into more of his work.

I'm only in a Country/Ameripolitan band now and don't want to be a buzz-kill, so I'll refrain from posting ours for now Uh-Oh .

Now I can see that it's a Ramonish character. I thought it was the Unibomber in a hoodie.

Squink Out!

Geez... I guess that would make it tough to make a surf connection then huh?

The unabomber only played acoustic!

Logos - I love them! We have had several good ones, thanks to my friend and graphic artist extraordinaire Rich Barry. It started with this, a rip-off of The Astronauts logo that was painted on Jim Gallagher's drum head.

image

Rich did this one for us because he liked the inside joke about the name of a song we did called "The Infantile Surf" He also made light of the fact that I cut a "shark bite" into a surf board with a coping saw as a display at my bike shop.
image

This is my favorite. I saw vintage surf t-shirt with something similar. He's had to re-draw a couple of heads more than a few times as guys have come and gone.

Cool

Great thread, great logos! My older son, Jef designed the Surfer Rex logo and bandmate, TomH filled in the background.
image

Yeah, the background was hard work. I found a web site that did it for free! Actually, I used a transparent version on our web site. So, the background isn't a part of it. I just randomly added our name to the one Jerry posted to make it official!
