Hello everyone.
I’m curious if there were any instrumental guitar four-piece groups in Africa in the 60s / 70s.
When The Ventures first visited Japan and the Philippines it sparked a flood of similiar bands and imitators. Were there a similiar effect when The Shadows toured Africa in the beginning of the 60s?
Any ideas and recommendations would be very welcome. Any music out of Africa along the lines of Shadows, Ventures, Duane Eddy, Dick Dale and of course surf in general would be of great interest.
Many thanks!

There is a compilation CD called "Cazumbi" that features various African garage bands from the 1960s. It has four surfy/shadowsy instrumental tracks, namely Billy Boom and Manga Madura by the Kriptons (Angola), Murder By Contract by Os Rebeldes (Mozambique), and Krakmen Twist by Les Krakmen (Congo). You'll find those tracks on Youtube.
The whole CD is pretty cool and well worth having, especially if you're into Back-From-The-Grave/Pebbles-style 60s garage.
