The Cubs? Wow.. I remember them as a kid. They were a team that played baseball on the northside of Chicago. What happened to them?

He could (among other actually attainable objectives) Wes, instruct us in the fine art of maintaining a tidy work bench.

I might have ADD in that particular area; I get like a beagle in the woods with too many rabbits sometimes.

Cubs/Indians; way-insane-too-out-of-hand-fun to contemplate. Cool

Likewise back to the thread (while dialing the recycling company to come drop a dumpster in my driveway so I can clear off my bench).

About a year ago my next door neighbor had one of those super dooper, double duty, kingsized dumpsters sitting in his driveway frightenly close to my basement door. I kept the door locked and chained.

Whew...........close. Got away clean.........clean? I'll have no part of that.

Should it not be "Cubbies/Indians?

Sure, you can refer to them however you like. They got close last year but are young & hopefully get that last little thing to seal the deal. Unlike today's playgrounds where everyone's a winner, professional sports is still a meritocracy & you gotta earn it.

Now, ain't that Oly White JM just the prettiest thing...?
If I ever re-do mine that'll be the color. Yes

Staggeringly beautiful, Wes.

Tim scored big time with that one.

I can send you a rattle can of white paint.

Ok, just to bring back the thread back to Squier Jazzmasters, I had an impulse buy a couple of weeks ago, I took my wife to check out the Sam Ash they opened in SD, and they happened to have the same kind at the store. I checked it out as I wanted a more authentic backup guitar. My wife commented how cheap it was, and was expecting me to buy it, so I did.

Ran, Congrats on the new guitar! It looks great, love the color. Welcome to the Oly White club.

Nice looking case. Is it new too?

Congratulations to both of you! Lovely looking guitars.

Thanks for the welcome, maybe these pics will make you retract that statement... ;)

Yes, sharp eye about the case. They didn't have a guitar case that fit it, so I settled on a decent bass case (retail $94). All together, guitar, case, strap and $15 strings was $388 including tax.

What you see peeking on the right is a TVL Jazzmaster that I stumbled across the next week and couldn't pass down the deal. Brand new, $800 including a cable, tuner and T-Shirt.

I just received my string shipment, I can't comment until they are properly setup with my 15-65 Flatwounds...

Ran, I have a brand new beautiful black/purple case for you, that I got as a replacement with my new AVRI Jag. I can use your bass case for my VI. We can swap, if you want. I need to check if slow shipping rates aren't too crazy.
Your collection is beyond anything... I can't even ... WTF dude@!
Sure you don't need a backup for the backup ? Smile

I would gladly trade if the shipping wasn't such an expense and hassle! The bass case is quite larger than what I need. If I was flying your way anytime soon I would have brought it with me.

Ha! I just noticed this part, thanks! My guitar "collection" (if it can even be called that) is mostly low budget stuff.

I meant The amps and reverbs too... all adds up.
Anyway I checked, to send it would cost half of a case's local price anyway. If you do come around, it's here, use it as a suitcase Wink

If you have followed this thread from the beginning you know that Eddie Katcher made the kind offer to help me get my new Jazzmaster "spot on". I have just returned from spending the afternoon with Eddie at the Boatwerx. I'm sure this will come as no surprise to anyone, but Eddie is a gracious host and a ton of fun to hang with. Eddie's basement, "the boatwerx", is like Disney World and the Smithsonian for surf guitar fans. It was a truly awesome experience!

I saw his fine collection of guitars and amps. I saw the "band room" where Eddie rehearses and records. Eddie used his mixing board to show me how the individual tracks on The Surge! tune "Deflector Shield" was put together. We jammed a bit on "Walk Don't Run" and "Mr. Moto" using his Fender Blondes and reverb tanks, and then I just sat back and listened as Eddie ripped through several tunes on his Jazzmaster. That was a real treat.

I brought over my Surfy Bear Reverb for Eddie to checkout. I'll let Eddie give his review of how the Surfy Bear compares, but I thought Eddie made it sound great.

And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Eddie put my Jazzmaster on the bench. Eddie checked it out real good. He filed the nut slots to improve the action, adjusted the saddles and intonation, made a slight bend in the vibrato bar to tighten it up in the collet, and finished up by giving me the resistor and capacitor along with the instructions on how to mod my volume control to be like his. So, yes, I would say that my Jazzmaster is now "spot on" and I had an amazing educational experience.

Thanks, Eddie, for a great afternoon. I'm in your debt.

-Tim

Here's a photo of Eddie's mixing board and the super cool "surf shrine" on it.

Phenomenal post Tim, thanks. Believe every word. Drool over the dual EQ notwithstanding, that is some serious tribal mojo going on atop that unit.
Could give a guy ideas about redecorating the upstairs commo bunker music room.

Thanks for the kind words Tim. It was all my pleasure having you come by, hang out, and I am glad we were able to tweak some on your guitar (which really didn't need much in the way of tweaking at all).

I have been around for a while (and playing Jazzmasters since 1965), I thought I had "seen it all," at least until Tim showed up with his guitar and his "handy toolbox" reverb unit. Tim's new Squire Jazzmaster is the first one I have actually seen in person, and to say I was impressed
is a complete understatement. That is one damn nice guitar. It looks awesome (the figured maple neck is absolutely stunning in person), it plays really well, sounds good (even with the round wounds) and is as light as a feather. The workmanship is simply amazing. It a killer value. As Tim pointed out, it didn't need much in the way of TLC to adjust a few small details to bring it much closer to being really, really good. And since he had built the Surfy Bear Reverb, I figured he'd enjoy tweaking on the guitar's electronics a bit himself. Additionally, why pull the pick guard off if the strings are still good............? Lazyboy Ed.

His Surfy Bear Reverb, like the guitar, was a complete surprise. I don't think it is equal to a Fender tube unit, or at least any one of my three (two originals and one RI), it surpasses them all. Frankly, I think that was the best sounding reverb unit I've ever heard. That is no small statement.

To start off, it has a higher fidelity. You'll notice how clean clear and big the dry guitar signal sounds, then you dial in the controls a tad, and holy cow does it generate vast amounts of wonderful wash and splash. Want DRIP? smack the string a bit harder. Deep belches of drip, very clean and very precise. Almost a machine-gun articulated drip. Finally it is clearly the bargain of the surf century. Putting one together is the "model airplane kit" of the Surfguitar 101 sect.

I am going to order one right now.

What a great afternoon. Thanks Tim for making my day!

Best Reverbs,

ed
