Permalink Backlund Model 100's available at Eastwood...for a while anyway

Eastwood's custom shop is crowdfunding a small number of my model 100 solidbody guitars until (I think) February 4th. I view this as kind of a last gasp for this guitar model, and if it doesn't manage to meet it's very low minimum numbers by the end of the project, I will consider this design 'dead' and that will be the end of it. If anyone has ever considered getting one of these unusual guitars, this may well be the last opportunity to do it. If it goes reasonably well, however, I'm hoping that Eastwood might consider including it in their regular lineup, but that's wishful thinking on my part at this point.

The guitar will be manufactured by Korea's Mirr company, the same one that builds Reverend guitars, owns and makes Italia guitars, and also at least supplies parts and bodies for Duesenberg, if not actually building the entire instrument.

Whether this guitar is suitable for surf or not is going to have to be up to the individual, but it sure looks the part, even though, as it is offered now, it doesn't have a trem bridge, but a wrap-a-round hardtail. Anyway, I just needed to get the word out to as many players as I can, in any way I can. The guitar is being offered in two, two-tone finishes, gloss black and mint green (as seen in my avatar), and gloss red and ivory. Here's a link to Eastwood's custom shop 'Backlund model 100' page if anyone wants to take a look at it. Thanks for looking. John Backlund, Rapid City, SD.

this is so cool, incredible design, I have already opted in for 1 Smile

With eleven days left in the Eastwood Custom Shop project for my Model 100 guitar, they've reached 288% of the minimum goal number, so it seems to be a succesful effort. Eastwood has also just started a shorter-term project for a left-handed version of the same guitar, but it's apparently only being offered in the red/ivory two-tone color and not also in the black/mint green. I think there's eleven days left on the 'lefty' model too.

320% this morning, with nine days left to go.

326% today. I'd say your design has proven popular, John. Hope you get good royalties and a place in the pantheon of designers of famous axes!

Squink Out!

John,
Congrats on the response to guitar and the crowd funding success!

Cheers,
Jeff

Half of a day left and it's reached 426% in what appears to be a last minute surge. It has succeeded far past my expectations, which initially had me hoping it could meet it's 100% minimum. As for the Pantheon of guitar designers, if I'm lucky, I might eventually merit a portrait in the Men's Room, right next to the hand blow-dryer.

Thank you, Jeff. It's encouraging to know there are still a few players out there who appreciate visually unorthodox guitars, but it took Eastwood to find them for me. They did a great job promoting the Model 100 project. I could never had done it by myself.

The final numbers for the guitar wound up at 489% of Eastwood's goal.
