After learning surf guitar now for what 3 or 4 months. I played my first gig. I played for the students at the all special education elementary school I work at. They loved it. I played Pipeline, Wipeout, Ghost Riders in the Sky, Walk Don't Run, and a couple of my own compositions. Hey, I may be on the bottom rung of surf guitarists, but now I am part of the club. Wink

AWESOME! CONGRATS!

dude, you just jumped to the 3rd rung from the top. Now find some players and make some music.

That's sweet, congratulations.
Now I've gotta catch up from the bottom of this proverbial ladder.

I puked out in the back parking lot before my first gig. Puke

So I guess you're doing better than I did. Thumbs Up

I recall you played in front of a huge crowd a few weeks ago. Thumbs Up

Thanx guys.

If you saw how many mistakes I made you might take it back. A little something called stagefright. Shocked

But I didn't puke! yes!

Rock on, tenderfoot!

Everybody gets nervous to some extent. The trick is to not let your conscious mind lead you to think that a little natural anxiety will diminish your playing abilities (e.g., "Oh no! I am fearful and now I will somehow forget everything I have learned! My fingers will never find the right notes.") It doesn't work that way unless you allow it to. A little adrenaline might actually help a bit!

congrats...keep it up!

Way to go Tenderfoot!! I've played for "special" people too and they love music like all of us do.....my first "pro" gig was a grand opening for a furniture store in Grover City California in the 60's. We got $3 each and a hamburger sandwich w/fries!!

Not to worry. Mistakes are a part of life. You are way ahead of some folks here.
Besides, I paid $100.00 for a ticket to watch Mark Knopfler make mistakes on his own songs a summers or so ago. If Mark does it, I suppose everyone does.
Keep on going for it.
You can't surf sitting on the beach.

I remember the first song of my first gig was "Apache" MY hands were shaking so much I thought the tremalo was on. It was a freebe at a coffee house. what a rush, i was awake all night thinking about it.

Is that too much reverb?
