Surf music on a Recorder?

This is probably way off topic:

Lately I started digging the Recorder quite a lot, both a Soprano and Alto. (don't have one but got good memories from playing it in school unlike most people)

It quite shines when playing folk/medieval music thus I wonder how can it cope with Surf Rock music? With songs like Squad Car, Molokai Cocktail or Circadia by the TomorrowMen?

Any opinion on the subject?

9th Wave have flute in some of their songs. It's not quite recorder but in the ballpark and very nice it is too.

I wonder if you could put one through a Fuzzrite and get some gritty sax-like substance to it. Not being flip here, just thinking back to the day where sometimes it seems like there was a sax growling in the background even if it didn't take a solo.

If only I'd read this topic last night, I would have had a go at this today for you all.

I too played the recorder in school, but never got very far as I was the last group to receive lessons before they stopped them. I then put it away for about ten years until I grew into a very strange teenager and decided that I would become the world's first heavy metal recorder virtuoso (I wish I was joking about this).

pre-CBS recorders will work for surf music

Will heavy relic give that vintage sound?

Badger, that is an interesting idea!
Harmonicas would fit better because they are dirty from the beginning but than I'll have to deal with reeds changing and re-tuning.
What draws me to the recorders is the fact they are cheap and require zero maintenance.

True. Knowing surf done right would blow out anything but a D130F diaphragm on a simple kazoo. Recorder is fairly bullet proof, though.
