I've been offered a Reverend club king 290, and I totally dig the look of it. It's also equipped with a les trem.
It's the model with p90s and a bass contour cobtrol. Anyone have experience with this model and care to comment on this guitars surfiness? I know after my jag died on stage the other night I thought I'd better get a back up, and this might be nice to use for a different sound.
Thanks

I have a totally different reverend, but I LOVE it (PA-1RT, the hollowbody gretschy looking one). I'd go for it!

I'm a HUGE fan of Reverend Guitars! I played one of their original Avenger models pretty much exclusively for over a decade. And now play their Reeves Gabrels Signature model. Every day. Every gig. Just for transparencies sake. I Do Not work for reverend. They are just outstanding guitars for the money! I've tried out the club King at the local music shop. Great Guitar. Do It! You won't regret it.

Agent71857, nice!
Very tasty guitars at a great price! I almost bought the Six-gun once, when a local shop had it, only it was Cream which didn't excite me.
But check this out:

Very light and very playable, construction is great. Less biting character than a Strat, but with the right strings and PU's I imagine it can be a perfect surf guitar.

Looked closer at the pic after posting -- that's a Reeves! Didn't realize they had a murdered out option for that one. I still stand by everything I said about the double agent though!
Those OGs are great surfers. Fun pup combination, comfortable to play and a great body style. Not a fan of those light touch trems though.
I'm looking to try out a Jetstream 390 - they look like they've got some twang.

Thanks guys , that's great info.
Yep, I'm gonna pull the trigger,
Here is the specific axe I've been offered.
The color fits our band name 'the bull kelp surfers ' too

A Reverend Eastsider S, in sunburst satin, has powered the Royal Aces through countless gigs. Three excellent pickups, comfortable compound radius neck, pull switch which gets the neck pickup in combination with any other pickups, silky and responsive vibrato - just a gem.

I've had four Reverends. Just sold my CK 290 to which I'd added a Vibramate Bigsby. It sure can surf. The buyer was amazed to get that kind of guitar quality and sound at such a low price.
The best surfer of the Reverend bunch for me is the Flatroc with the Les Trem. This one:

Chambered body, thin spruce top, hot little minihum sorta pickups that drive very nicely. Plus the Les trem works very well.

Noice axe Ant. I love me some P90s and a whammy bar.

These two are for sale lockaly. Tried the three pickup Warhawk, goood)wanna try the Clubking. The only way that keeps me from buying one is a tremolo abscency, pretty much efforts and money to equip one with bigsby or whatever. Nice guitars)

I love Reverends. I have a six gun iii. I got an Eastsider S like fenderfan's but in Deep Sea Blue.
I never had locking tuners or a Wilkinson before, they're freaking awesome!
The necks feel chunkier than Fenders and Squiers I've had.
The two Reverends I have aren't going anywhere, these are great!
Light guitars, too, if that matters.
They definitely surf!
Nice guitars, everyone!
