Are any surf bands on this forum using Gigmasters? If so what category did you use to sign up as a vendor? I find it hilarious that "Merengue Band" and "Zydeco Band" have their own category, however of course there is no "Surf Band" option. Are the Merengue and Zydeco communities really stomping us that hard? There's actually not even an "Instrumental Band" option! Here are the options:

Poor Surf Music. Always the red headed step child. But apparently they aren't interested in the myriad of Metal band genres either. Maybe there's a conspiracy against Surf/Metal.

I emailed them and told them they should add the Surf Band category because people actually DO like surf music! And they replied:
Thank you for contacting us and for your interest in GigMasters! I have checked with our Product Development Team and at this time, they will not be considering adding a “Surf Band” category. This would be due to not enough client demand for this particular category as well as not having enough members to list in it in order to fulfill and sustain the category.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, though you’re more than welcome to join and list in any of the band categories that we do currently have listed.
So there you have it. I'm interested in these types of service websites that deal with connecting bands to venues/gigs, so I'll see if this one is worth anything. If you are in a surf band and sign up, please email them and let them know you want the category too please!

If all emailed the question with our band websites as a signature, they might reconsider

They’re unaware that an option menu is as much a user friendly suggestion as it is a selection tool. User Experience 101. This stuff must be tested before being denied.

Here's the reply I received:
Hello,
Thank you for emailing us. You are correct that we currently do not have this particular category. I will be glad to forward the request to our web development who is in charge of all additions or changes made to the site. This process can take some time, so please check back with us in a few months, as we may be able to add this for the future. Thank you for the suggestion, and our apologies that we can’t accommodate your request immediately. Thank you and have a nice day!

My other band (non-surf) uses Gigmasters and a fairly steady stream of work comes through it. I have been planing on signing up for it this summer. Will report how it goes.
