As a founding member of the Ivan Sr. fan club, these vids bring me great joy. For the first time I can see Sr's left hand in action. He does the Bruce chords, no barre chords. Brilliant! Jr does alright himself. A keepsake session.

See what you made me do Ivan. Had to go out and get some sort of Vox sound for the office so I can start playing some Shadows and Atlantics. I'm not mad. Even Wes suffered collateral damage as he had to deal with my emails all day about amp settings for the AC 10. —The Kahuna Kings https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Kahuna-Kings/459752090818447 |

Thanks again, all, we greatly appreciate all your compliments and are very glad you're enjoying these videos! Badger wrote:

Alas, not yet. We shall see, I hope there will be some.
And to you, Wes! Hope we see each other again next year. JohnnyMosrite wrote:
Hey, I've got four now! They're so damn cheap on eBay (~$50), why not?
Great, John, at least one other fan!
Many years ago I tried the original tape unit. Don't remember much about it, quite honestly. I've never tried the pedal, though I know that Alex Faide of Los Twang! Marvels uses it, and that's a pretty big endorsement! I'll have to check it out at some point, though between the Korg and the Strymon, I am very happy!
You're welcome! A great company! caddady wrote:

Yep, my dad's studied Bruce's style under a microscope! Constantly watching videos to see which positions Bruce will play particular chords and then figuring out the inversions, etc. He's as DEDICATED to the Art of the Bruce Rhythm Guitar as few - if any - others!

Holy cow, David!!! That was FAST! I guess with great power comes great responsibility, or at least I think I've heard something like that... What Vox amp is that? (AC-10? Thus the reference to bugging Wes for the settings?) I sure hope you like it, though I'll accept absolutely no blame if you don't! Anyway, between the Strymon and this, you should have MANY hours of fun ahead! —Ivan |

Here's "Blue Star" for you all, the next to the last of these videos I've got. It was track 2, side 1, of the Shadows debut LP from '61. Enjoy! —Ivan |

Actually this is a Vox Valvetronix that I picked up off CL yesterday cheap. It is the original series and it's doing a great AC15 sound. Now I'm enjoying playing Shadows/Atlantics Vox sounds. Had to have and didn't want to drop hundreds into the real thing after buying two new strats in the last month lol! I also wanted a decent amp for the office/mixing room for learning songs online. I'm going to create a decent bassman sound next with it. Now back to the thread about the great sounds you and your Dad make!!! —The Kahuna Kings https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Kahuna-Kings/459752090818447 https://thekahunakings.bandcamp.com/releases Last edited: Dec 30, 2015 08:10:14 |

Flagged the post above by mistake. Hit the button rather than the quote button. Apologies.... Anyway, great videos, especially because of the family playing the less familiar. |

Having spent a bit of time trying to get those rhythm parts down (12 or so Shads songs on our set list) I understand and respect what Sr. has done. It took YouTube interviews with Bruce to shed light on what he was doing with the Shads and there are still bits that throw me. Note the Wakeman/Jon Lord interview is worth watching. — |

Well, what can I say except to once again deeply thank you all! Thanks, Jeff, Ted, Martin, Noel, David, Clarry, and caddady! Both of us truly appreciate it. Clarry, you've got it, we went for the less-familiar Shadows songs. They have such a huge catalog that it's easy to miss a lot of great songs unless you're a really dedicated fan. This way we get to expose some more of those songs to people that will surely appreciate them. caddady, nice to see you're also dedicated to the Art of the Bruce Rhythm Guitar! And that's a great interview with Bruce! Watched it myself just a few weeks ago, coincidentally! (I guess it pops up on YouTube quite a bit if you look up anything related to the Shadows.) David, thanks for the details on the amp - I actually figured out after I posted that your new amp was probably the one you mentioned on the previous page of this thread. Very glad to hear you like it! I've heard good things about those amps. Here's the final video from our Christmas shindig (ha!). This one is "All Day", the Greek-influenced b-side to the "Dance On!" single from '62, originally performed with both Hank and Bruce on bouzoukis. Enjoy! —Ivan |

My dad and I again recorded ourselves playing some Shadows ballads for Christmas. I've posted those on Facebook, but in case you're not on FB, I'm now putting them on YouTube (where they can also be seen in HD, unlike on FB for some reason). Here's #1 of 4: "Find Me a Golden Street". Enjoy!! —Ivan |
