I love the sound of my Voodoo Lab trem, but I had to replace the footswitch twice allready. So I'm saving money for the new Strymon Flint, love the sound of it in the store and the reverb sounds are great too. Only thing is the price, a hefty 299,-! Almost the half of a tank, and I need a tank! Still can't decide if I want a Fender or a Leopard... The first has a great reverb sound, the second is a cool band transportation, eh... thing! No more parking troubles!

I am looking to buy a trem pedal to use with my '65 twin reverb RI, as I have heard some pedals sound better than onboard BF Trem. I like a very slow, deep, pulsating sound. I had a Flint but sold it, and don't really want to spend $300 on a pedal. What do you guys think of the Demeter Tremulator? Thanks for your help!

Hey guys. I'd like to let you know that you all should wait a little before buying a new tremolo pedal. There's something in the Pipeline for you guys which you will appreciate...except you're not a DIY guy. Then go ahead and buy your new pedal.  The DIYers: please stay tuned.

For the thread's record, I ditched my Voodoo Labs for a Demeter Tremulator. Goes all the way down to slooooooowwwww and sounds closest to my amp's output-biased trem. (There is a slight fattening boost when kicked in.)

I forgot that Bjourn was working on a trem circuit and I bought the Joyo trem which is a clone of sorts of the Tremulator. It needs a couple of tweaks to be a Tremulator. It was 30 bucks or so. It will hold me over until Bjourn has the circuit ready.

Mine was a Prescription Electronics THROB that I've had for 15 or 16 years. Two foot-switchable, independently controlled speeds and a wave form switch (trem and chop). Then, this week, one of the speed controls just stopped working the way it should (it won't keep a steady speed. It's like a tremolo with ADD). Now, its not my favorite anymore. Time to go pedal shopping.

And if you really do want a new pedal, the Guyatone Flex VT-X does a good job getting the trem and 'chop'. Personally, I'm into that chop myself.

Rick Miller SCOTS uses a Tremulator, although now I think he uses the onboard tremolo on his Supro more.

Good, but not a must own. Very useful for me, but there are other tremolo pedals as good out there. Not as easy to use as other tremolo pedals.

With The THROB out of commission and on the shelf I ended up getting a Black Cat Mini Trem as a replacement. I like what I heard, read and the features it has but, I won't have it in my hands until tomorrow so of course, no real impressions yet.
I do, however, want to get the THROB repaired. Its been a mainstay for me for years and they don't grow on trees. Question: with there being no one around my locale that does pedal repairs, does the collective have any recommendations for effect pedal repair?

Jim Dunlap made a fantastic "Tremolo Stereo Pan Pedal" some time ago. Of course it was best to bring two amps, one on each side of the stage, to the job for best results from the stereo setup.

Oh yes, I remember those.
I actually have an early, prototype version.
A friend of mine used to use one of these with two Twin Reverbs on each side of the drummer.
Splendid indeed.

After spending some time with the Black Cat Mini Trem, I'm sorry to say the negative (and there's only one) outweigh all the positives. The positives: its a very good sounding trem. The Depth control has a very smooth transition between waveforms as opposed to a "one or the other" switch. Speed control can go from a ridiculously slow to crazy fast using the speed switch. LED also pulses with the speed giving a visual tempo marker. Adjustable tone and gain controls that also serve as a boost when not using the trem. Clean work inside the box; all nice and organized.
The negative (I only have one): I can hear the ramp-up of every signal pulse through the amp speakers when idle; a distinct "thump, thump, thump". This alone pretty much killed it for me.

You should never use a Fender Onboard Trem then Every amp I own has this audible "thump, thump, thump" when the trem is engaged. Especially the harmonic trem that comes with the visible speaker throbbing on top.
