The versions by Dave Myers and by the Surf Teens each lack one part of the original version and could thus be called simpler. But Dave Myers & the Surftones added a lot to the song by alternating between guitar and saxophone throughout the song. To me that's the best version from the 60s.

Okay, chorus might not be the best term here, but it differs in length from the verses, and I can't think of a better term right now.
My favorite version actually is the one by Jon & the Nightriders, which really combines all the parts together in a very tasteful way (my old band also played the song in their arrangement).
