NOOOOOOOOOO

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I had a few exchanges maybe 10 years ago with Olivier, and sent him a package of CDs in thanks for his efforts.
Of course, I have no idea why he stopped, but one thing I clearly noticed was that he relied heavily on Phil Dirt's Reverb Central for information and graphics. Maybe when Phil stopped reviewing, Olivier threw in the hat. My god, what a huge database that site was. Just fantastic, everything linked. You could play 7 degrees of surf separation for days.
Isn't there some dump site where every website ever is backed up daily?
Anyway, I hope everything is OK with Olivier and he isn't sick or something.

I sent an email to him today and it was returned with the error message "This mailbox has been blocked due to inactivity." I certainly hope allllll that time, effort and dedication doesn't just disappear forever. Anyone else have a way to get in contact with him? Maybe some of the Surf Family in France?

Whoops, meant to post this link on my last post. You can view the cached version here: http://web.archive.org/web/20110723160300/http://www.instromania.net/D2/index.php. Which really should be fine considering it hasn't been updated in ages.

(Brian, for some reason it links back to this page if I make that a proper link)

Is it possible for someone that knows what he's doing to save the cached version to possibly put it up somewhere else in the future?? That would be REALLY good!

The best bet would be to somehow get a hold of Olivier and see if he has a copy of the site. Otherwise you'd have to crawl the wayback machine, which would be very painful and slow.

I'm still hoping he just forgot to renew the domain and it will be back in a few days...

Honestly this was one of those things you'd like to see up forever, or available on DVD or something, unfinished snapshot in time and all.

Classic burnout symptoms. And that's the good scenario.

I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it's true !

In the meantime, if you're interested in seeing it as it was in the past (mostly) you can use The Wayback Machine internet archive: https://archive.org/web/
