I now have two guitars. Both acoustic. One twelve-string, one six. Both no-name.

I've got this wild idea that I should start buying some better guitars, and selling a relevant number of my cheaper ones. Something like: buy a Gretsch Electromatic G5127 (or better), and sell my Ibanez Artcore AG75TBS and Peavey JF2 EX. Replace my cheaper Teles with a Fender American Deluxe Telecaster, and all of my cheaper Strats (except the So Cal Speed Shop and FSR Straight Six) with a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster. I'll keep both of my Gibsons, and my Fender Bass VI (of course).
For being the last month of 2008, I could make this a New Year's resolution, for 2009. There are a few other guitars that I'd love to add to my collection, but I'll really have to work to keep the collection on the smallish side. After Christmas, I'll resume my custom Telecaster project (Warmouth body routed for P90s and having Strat tremolo routing), and I'm still planning to build a 12-string "Telecaster Deluxe," so I'll have to factor these into the equation of trying to find out if I can get to less than 21 guitars.
Since there is the possibility of going to Iraq, in 2009, my Squier Affinity Tele will be the last one to go. With this possibility, there is a chance that I may end up thinning the "herd," and upgrading to better models when I return home.

I got 6 electrics:
Epiphone Alleykat SUnburst
Epiphone Alleykat Black
Eastwood Sidejack Greeenburst
Dipinto Galaxy IV pink sparkle
MIJ Ventures Mosrite CAR
'64 Strat sunburst
The Dipinto and MIJ Mosite are my main surf/instro guitars. I like the Epiphones for blues. All the guitars were cheap - even the Strat which I got in '78.

AVRI '62 Jazzmaster, Sherwood Green
CIJ CAR Jaguar
'67 RI V, Heritage Cherry
'63 Marcelino Lopez Nieto Classical
Gibson RB-75
Carlos Dreadnought, kind of D-28ish..not bad sounding for a cheap acoustic.

Is this a trick question, or what? At first, I thought I was more into the amps than I was into the guitars but it seems as if I currently have twelve of each:
3 Jazzmasters
1 Jaguar
1 Strat
2 Telecasters
1 Les Paul
1 Hallmark Custom 60
1 P Bass
2 Acoustics
5 Showman Amps
2 Bandmasters
1 Bassman
1 Twin Reverb
2 Epiphones
1 Silvertone
1 Kustom PA
All my amps were made between '62 and '72. The best overall one is the '68 Showman with the Torres inspired mods and the EV-15Ls. I counted about 20 misc speakers lying around. My basement is really quite a mess. I feel right at home there.
Now, what guitar do I pick up first? AVRI Jazzmaster #1. It beats the crap out of everything else I have, hands down.
Oh, I just remembered, I have an Acoustisonc Jr. over at Woody's house.
ed
i dream a little dread right now....:D:D
my guitars:
Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty
Selfmade Stratocoaster
First Guitar: Noname Strat
2 Accoustic Guitars

I just sold my 4th electric and have no plans at this time to get another one. But I do have an acoustic! lol
1 - 1996 Japanese Jazzmaster (aged white)
2 - 2007 Japanese Jaguar (sunburst)
3 - 2014 Hallmark StarCrunch Signature Custom 65 (white pearl)
4 - 1999 Lucero Classical/Nylon Guitar (cobalt blue with black fretboard)
I think my next guitar will be a baritone or a hollowbody. Something completely different in tonal options.
