"All-female 60's surf rock band, hailing from Toronto, Ontario."
A short clip of Malaguena on their FB and another clip on Instagram.

What an act.
But, what is it with the snapchat generation only posting 15 second clips??

Yes, Zak tipped me off. He too commented on the clip length.

SO I guess 2 minute surf songs are thing of the past. The Residents put out an album of all one-minute tunes around 1980, The Commercial Album. Maybe the trend for such long songs might come back in fashion.
I'm glad fashion-conscious teenage girls in Toronto want to revive instrumental surf. Perhaps it indicates a trend. It will bump up against the outgoing wave of indie-surf which doesn't sound remotely surfy, perhaps overwhelming it.

Pretty sure they are only posting snippets of songs, it is impossible to know how long they are.
They just posted another snippet on their Facebook page but that's impossible to link here.

Yeah, I was being sardonic. I like the girls and hope it catches on – the idea of actually playing music that doesn't rely on producers or even charismatic vocalists might answer some hipsters' need for authenticity. Could the Suffras be harbingers of a nascent 4th Wave? Hope so.

Not teenagers! By no means old, but specifically not teenagers!
But, what is it with the snapchat generation only posting 15 second clips??
Snapchat is 10 seconds! Vine is 6 seconds. Instagram is 15-seconds. I'll admit, super annoying. By the reason the snapchat generation is posting short clips is because it is much easier to not suck for 15 seconds than it is several minutes! Or at least, create a better product without camera issues/general wonkiness. Snapchat, Instagram, and Vine are much more private than Facebook, can be embedded with ease, and perform one function. And as these platforms have time limits, it lends more credence to stupid time limits.

But hipsters don't need authenticity, nor understand authenticity. The hipster likes things because they are a trend. "Lol, plaid shirts", "Lol, moustaches are cool", "OMG, I love retro music".
And to the idea of playing music that doesn't rely on producers, that is any number of fantastic albums written over the past 40-50 years. There is no shortage of great original, self-written material being produced by both bands and individuals these days.

And I really dig the band's name. I've been following one of the members for a little while on Instagram, so it really pleases me to see her start a band.

I guess I just don't know hipster kulcha and consistently overrate them. Hoping that a healthy metatrend could develop that would see young adults making intelligent choices - reading, learning history, getting informed, asking difficult questions.
I'm probably cruising for a big disappointment. I think the 2007-8 activism to elect Obama & 2011's OWS were about it for the current crop.

!!!!
Hipsterism is the decadence of youthful elan in the emoji era, where the potential of social media is sidetracked to mere trendy hollow consumerism. Passion diverted to satiety.
