Growing up in the 1960s watching American TV series like Bewitched and Land of the Giants kids programmes has never been so good. For me the funniest series of all was the Munsters and judging by the amount of surf bands covering the theme tune I'd guess I'm not alone in my thinking.
I was listening to the flip side of the Munster theme, a tune called The Ghoul which features some wicked surf guitar parts and it got me wondering who Jack Marshall was. After all these years it would be interesting to know something about him and his band - a photo or whatever.
When it comes creepy horror surf music the trail starts with Jack Marshall doesn't it ?? he's thee man isn't he ?? or does the rabbit hole go deeper.
Anyone know anything then much appreciated.

Jack Marshall was a composer and band leader for TV and film. The musicians are session people, probably Wrecking Crew. I can tell you for sure that the Lead guitarist on both recordings is Vinnie Bell, inventor of the electic sitar and elecric Bell-zouki and ace session player.

Viktor! Thanks for the links and info. Ha! I sort of wished I hadn't asked now ..Google is my friend! Seriously though Vinnie Bell is very interesting character to get side tracked with, thank you for pointing him out to me.

Interesting side note, I was reading the introduction to the Christopher Parkening classical guitar method book and he mentioned his cousin Jack Marshall. I recognized that name, looked it up, and sure enough it was THAT Jack Marshall!

From what I've read Jack Marshall was a jazz guitarist.

Just found this biography which says the Munster fuzz guitar part was by Bob Bain.

Ah, but there were two versions used on the TV show; the first season theme is played on a baritone guitar playing the melody in a low register. The second season is played on a normal electric in a higher register. Also there is no fuzz in either version as the article states.
Maybe one guy played on one version and the other guy on the other version?

You're right there's two versions and I knew it as soon as I heard them!
