hey all,
so I got word about a last minute Infrareds show.
I almost didn't go, but I knew that nobody else from the surf crowd was going, so I should at least show up, and they guys were really happy I did, and said I was in store for some surprises.
The rockabilly band that played before them started around 10:30 or so.
I had seen them before, its Female fronted band, called Rockin' Rose and the (something)boys. They are pretty fair, and do some instros too.
I went and took a nap in my truck for 30 min. and then came back in when I heard the Infrareds tunning up.
When they started Benny form the Volcanics was on Guitar(white Burns, like Hank Marvin played) and Rory was on Drums, go figure..??????
but it was killer. They both smoked on the other instruments.
They had Frankie from the Volcanics come up and join them on the Avengers VI "Heartbeat" and "Squad Car" after about 9 songs they switched places. Benny set up the drums left handed style for him to play,
and Rory got his Mustang set up and cranked the reverb to 10. Kegan
was there on the matching blue mustang bass. They played some rippin' classics, and a few covers, and some new songs they have been writing recently. then they had Benny come up again and they did a cover of the Volcanics "Volcanic Fury" which is I guess a tribute to Rory's fast playing. but Rory played lead instead of Frankie, and he played rhythm
on it. it was a late night, with no other surf fans there, but I am glad I went and saw another smoking hot Infrareds show.

I wish they'd tell us about this stuff! I would have went if I didn't already make plans with another friend. It sounds like I missed a good one.
