Highly recommend the Dano Longhorn.
Sounds great with roundwound or flatwound strings.
Very light at 6 lbs. Very comfortable neck for small hands and well balanced.
My wife uses one. She bought in 2006 and hasn't touched her 32" scale Precision bass in years.

Up until this thread, I considered myself as knowing quite a bit about short scale basses, but I'm realizing that there are alternatives I've never even dreamed of.

Instead of buying a new of strings for my Precision bass I bought the Squier Jaguar short scale bass for $179. It's very well made, lightweight and has a very thin neck, easy as can be to play. The bridge pickup is basically worthless but it sounds great with just the Precision pickup.
