Hi folks!
Here Emilio from México City. I’m glad to announce a new project I’m starting in association with my pal James Hid. As some of you know we run “PLANETA REVERB” which is a Facebook page that takes advantage of the social network to connect people that are into the local Instrumental Surf Music scene and also from the Latin America Surf Music scene with no other goal in mind but promote and spread Surf Music. If you didn’t know about us you’re welcome to visit our site Planeta Reverb Facebook.
We know there are lots of music stores on the web where you can buy vinyl, CD’s and digital downloads with just one click at fair prices, but shipping cost is another story. Digital downloads are cool but there are still people that want the real deal, a physical object. A CD sells for about $ 12-$ 15 and the shipping when you want to get a record from any vendor outside Mexico is about $ 11-$ 16 so for the average CD buyer this is not attractive (plus 2 weeks of waiting to the mail to arrive). This in my perspective is a terrible thing; this situation stops the flow of music and also affects the CD industry not to mention the bad moment bands that make the effort to have a physical CD have to pass through when their material gets stuck in their houses or in a store. As a consequence the customer loses the chance to get more and better music.
“PLANETA REVERB TIENDA OFICIAL” manages to be the solution. It will be the first and only 100% Instrumental Surf Music store in the country. There are no stores where you can buy for example a The Madeira CD. The goal is to eliminate (or at least eliminate 2/3 of the cost) the undue shipping costs and also the waiting by having the recorded material in stock. So the customer can have quick access to the music he deserves. In other words the main goal is to open the Mexican market to foreign artists that want to sell their material via PLANETA REVERB TIENDA OFFICIAL.
By now our first featured artist will be Lorenzo “Surfer Joe” Valdambrini, he has already send some copies of “Señor Surf” and Wadadli Riders “Made In Antigua” to be distributed, he is planning to tour Mexico on May 2014 so this will serve as a showcase to his music so the Mexican public start knowing more about him and his work. “Señor Surf” will be for sale at “ABIERTO INSTRUMENTAL DE SURF” which is a BIG event all dedicated to Instrumental Surf Music, please refer to this previous post to know more about the event.

So I’m formally inviting anyone interested (bands, solo artists, amateur bands, record labels, record distributors) in having their material for sale via “PLANETA REVERB TIENDA OFICIAL“ to get in contact with us at planetareverb@hotmail.com so we can start working on this. As I mention the goal is to open the Mexican maket and spread all that cool music that hasn’t been spread here in Mexico because of the shipping cost issue. Let the customer have your material quickly and with a real fair price. I want to point this out, we do not want to make a living by selling CD’s. As an extension of “PLANETA REVERB” the mission is to promote Surf Music with true spirit and healthy finances.
So thanks for taking the time to read and if you have any thoughts, comments or anything you want say about this new project, please write it down, it will be highly appreciated. Also if you know anyone interested that couldn’t read this post, please refer them to this thread.
