I bought a Crate Power Block at Guitar Center about 6 months ago, thinking that I could use it for something other than as an amp. When I bought it, I vaguely remembered reading some good reviews about them and I knew that Crate had quit making them. They were on sale and I spontaneously bought one; however, I still have never used it, because I'm not sure what I can use it for! I already have a Dual Showman and a Deluxe Reverb. So, I don't really need another amp. Is there something else that I can use the Crate Power Block for?
Thanks!

Tom, throw it in the back of the car before a gig, one day you'll be glad you did.

No; it's a re-issue, but it's blonde! In 1994 it was sold as part of a promotional three-piece set with a Blonde Jazzmaster and Jaguar guitars with gold hardware. I only got the amp

I've been using the Crate PowerBlock as a cool synth amp for the MicroKorg:

I've been using the 'vintage' and 'retro' settings: making sounds like moog, arp, wurlitzer, hammond, farfisa...junk like that...

I have one which I carry as a spare. Great peace of mind, especially if you are miles away from base. Mine's already been pressed into sevice as a monitor amp when that went down once. At a pinch it would cover guitar, bass or even PA failures to a degree. I've also used it with a 1x12 cab for some small gigs where the gear has to be carried a long way.

It is cool and very useful. You clearly don't need it as your main gigging amp. Like Jake said. Luckeeeeee!
I use mine as my main practice amp now. Whether with just headphones, or through one of my 1bys. You know 1x12, 1x15 Sounds great through a Vintage 30 and I have total volume control for bedroom use with the gain and Level controls.
It also has a CD input in the back, which makes it very versatile. Heck play along, or you can attract the Po-Po for miles around to your next party.
It's worth keeping. Takes up about the space of a pair of Super Burritos, but can bring down the walls. It can back up your dual in a pinch as Danny said if nothing else.

I keep one in my merch box at every show. Also, it makes a great headphone amp if practicing "out loud" is an issue on the homefront.
DP - I LOVE the MicroKorg! We used to have one set up to demo at the store where I used to work, and it was the most fun thing to play aroud with. We made all sorts of crazy beat loops, and then would rap over them with the vocoder. Ahhh, good times.

Fo shizzle, my nizzle. Why do you think I wanted to record at the studio where Digital Underground recoreded "The Humpty Dance"?
They call me MC Such-and-Such.

so far Ive used it for:
- gig am (backup, other guiatrist, whenever space in the car is limited.
- practice amp - when I dont want to lug around a heavy mofo bassman to practice room, and Ill use a cab that's allready there. (but has a marshall on top)
- home practice amp with small speaker or headphones
- bass DI for demo recording
- "PA" amp for blasting loud party stereo set-up
- hammering a nail into the wall to hang a framed "sundazed" postcard with a flying saucer on it.

I agree, always carry a spare. It's the best insurance I can think of that your main rig will keep on trucking......ed
