Tonight was amazing I'm guessing 2000 people, but not sure.
So many people to meet n talk to.
Lots of bands I've not heard of giving me cds to play on NSSR,
OR as promo n wanting to play SG101.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Awesome Dude!

Los Coronas ruled the world last night with an amazing set that had everyone dancing. Surfer Joe Festival is the center of the universe right now!

They surely did. Los Coronas were fabulous, although I never doubted that this would be the case.

Los Fantasticos

Los Coronas and Daikaiju back to back is pretty wild and hard to top... but i think kilaueas and bambi molesters will be equaly great. Every band is so good one after the other it is almost overwhelming!

I actually didn't recognize any original los coronas songs but i only have the first two. i'll have to look into the others

I agree. Have to really thank NSSR efforts at providing a really great mechanism that allows a (sort of) vicarious link to the goings on. Amazing.

It's great to see everyone having such a great time. This year looks to be better than ever and that's a great sign for the growth of instro/surf music.

Arny, Love your photos. Keep them coming.

waiting for the next arny's photos, great shoot! Big Grin

Sat. line up was off the charts.
All good, but from the point of
Els A phonics,Kilaueas,bambi molesters,Boss Martians,
And Satan's Pilgrims, we were all pretty much just in constant
Dis belief of how great the night was.

Lorenzo, you rule!

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Great night! Great crowd! Great bands! We had a blast playing. Thanks Lorenzo...plus we were introduced by Big Tiki Dude.

There are simply not enough superlative adjectives in all the languages of the world combined to say how fantastic this year's Surfer Joe Festival is. The music, of course, is the main event and the lineup is spectacular. New bands, legendary artist all playing at their best. Everything else is so well organized, and has grown proportionally to the scale of the festival. In addition to the two stages (the sets bounce back and for between them so no waiting time,) there is a Ferris wheel, a half pipe, remote bars and food stations, and other attractions. Service for your wants is fairly quick, so you don't have to miss any of the music.
All the additional attractions have brought so many casual fans, mostly locals I'd say, to the festival. Perhaps newcomers to surf music, they are certainly enjoying themselves, and even if they only buy beer, they are supporting the bands, and ensuring that the festival will carry on. I remember in 2009 being amazed that perhaps 300 attended the Surfer Joe, in 2012 I'd say 1000. Last night, I estimate 3000, and this was well after midnight.
Contributing to the atmosphere, literally, is the beautiful seaside weather, comfortable in short sleeves at 2pm and 2am. Lorenzo can't take credit for the weather, but it's a sign that Livorno is the perfect location for Surf Joe! The crowd is all ages and mellow, and with all the booze flowing, I haven't seen any ugly intoxication or fights, (though the Boss Martians did get a mosh pit going during their closing song.)
This is a chance to connect and make friends with our faceless SurfGuitar101 compatriots and discuss our passion for the reverb unfettered. You can approach your favorite musicians and ask them gear questions to which they will only politely respond to. You might find your self sharing a beer with brothers and sisters from Italy, Croatia, Russia, Denmark, Belgium, Nederlands, Michigan, Spain, Germany and California, all at once. Please try to attend next year's festival, start your planning now. And to Lorenzo and his dedicated crew, I congratulate you on a 100% success for 2015!

Last night was unbelievable... One highlight after another! Simply amazing! I even forgot to take pictures from the Satan's Pilgrims after 3 songs!
If I have to mention one band... It's gonna be Boss Martians, WOW! I even crowd surft... And sorry for the pit!

But you don't want to read my bad comments, you want pictures, do you?

Well here they are:

First a beer in a glass! Taste much better than plastic!
