Yes he does! Going to Tavo's website or checking him out on FaceBook, folks might think that you need a Gretsch and a Bassman or play rockabilly to really get the benefit of a Dyno Brain or Atomic Brain. That is absolutely not true. Tavo's pre-amps are great for any clean boost situation (which is GREAT to have for surf!!). Not only making the signal louder, but adding a fatness and warmth to your tone, especially when teamed up with a reverb unit. It boosts your clean signal and really helps bring out the most/best of your reverb springs. Some surf folks really like the EP Pre-amp. Those sound nice and are nice and compact on the pedal board. Cheaper too. But The Dyno/Atomic Brain is the way to go, imo. I'd much rather support a genuine small-shop builder who puts so much effort and love into his builds (not to mention all the support that Tavo has provided the SG101 conventions and other surf benefit shows). Plus, he really geeks out over internal components, so you know you're getting the best cork-sniffing boutique guts in your pedals. Good luck in your Brain search, Derekirving. |

Maybe you can find a used Nocturne for 20-30 bucks cheaper than a new one, but you might want to consider getting a new one. It will support the builder - in this case a small builder AND one that is an active forum member here. Either way, I'm not gonna judge. All I will say is that Tavo's pedals are all simply fantastic and you can't go wrong with any of them! —To Boldly go where no Tiki has gone before... |
