Hey all - my band will be playing in NYC in the August at Otto's, but we're looking for a place to play in Brooklyn the night before. I'm not from that area and was wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction in terms of places to play.

"Skinny Dennis" in Williamsburg bills itself as a honkey tonk, but I know they book rockabilly and a few other genres. Very low-key and overall cool vibe. No guarantees, but they may be open to booking a surf band during the week. Best of luck and let us know if/where you land a gig.

The Gutter is a cool venue, they have a bowling alley/bar in the front, and a stage in the back area. Legion bar is in East Williamsburg/Bushwick, and we used to pull crowds there. Coco 66 just reopened a few months back, I'm not sure if they are having shows or not yet, but might be worth checking out.
In Greenpoint there's a place called Matchless that's a bar/venue and is pretty cool. If I can think of more I will list them.

The Grand Victory is a friendly venue.

You can try the Waystation.
Waystation
They usually book months in adavance but sometimes have openings or cancellations.
They're better than most clubs in Brooklyn/NYC in that they have their own crowd and the stage is not hidden away in a back room or basement.

Thanks so much everyone! It's time for me to start looking these places up... any other surf bands out there that want to double-bill with us?
