Congrats, Tavo! Mike Fuller sure builds great effects. I've long been a fan of tape echo, beginning with an old 70s Univox EC100 cartridge unit which I sold after exploring its rather narrow limits, then an Echoplex EP3 or EP4 I got for free(!) in non-working condition, fixed up and enjoyed for several years before selling it. Later I traded a guitar in Nashville for a used Fulltone Tube Tape Echo and these days it's all I use besides my Surfy Bear FET Reverb and the built-in Reverb & Tremolo. My FTTE still runs the tape it had when I bought it, even though I have a fresh one in the gig bag. It sounds a little dirty, but I like it that way and keep the transport clean to avoid head wear and sticking. I also cleaned and lubed the head glide path for better modulation. The FTTE is a great instrument with its own voice but it needs upkeep or it will tear itself apart.
I wonder how the sound of these two units differs. The FTTE has dual outputs and a trimodal routing switch. The new unit has this fancy lighted f/s which seems a logical design advance.
Can't wait to hear a shootout between the two units!

That looks really cool, Tavo. If you don't mind my asking, how much did that cost?
I'd love to listen to some sound clips, hint hint

Joshoggua,
I see they are $799 MSRP. I think that's a couple hundred less than the FTTE. Will probably bring down the resale price of the latter.

What was the appeal of a solid state unit, Tavo?

I had to cut it up, sorry it was more in depth but this'll do. The Fulltone is GORGEOUS if you find the sweet spot so it doesnt overdrive or "Saturate", regarding roots music. If you want filth, texture and general hippie music this thing is CRAZY good. Worth every penny but damn its a lot of pennies. my Dtape echo cost $250 not $800I will live with the fake tape.

I'm confused,
Does it have a tape or is it a simulator.
