eBay saved search, Craigslist. Where are you located?

The Scimitars

"Surfin" all those sites KICK. What do you think is a good average cost for a pair of those?

I'm near Los Angeles.

$250-300 tops. $150 a pop for original cone. Don't pay more, just be patient. Try to arrange local cash deals to save on shipping/potential damage in transit.

Good luck, I am sure you will find good priced speakers.

Thanks Ran.

I may have found a pair that I can pick up for about 240 shipped from the east coast but pretty sure by the description the voice coil is bad on one. The cones looked good though. They would end up replacing all the componants anyways right?

If recone is required is this purchase worth it?

The price I mentioned is for good working condition ones.
For blown ones you should pay no more than $60-80.
I bought more than one D140 and D130s original cones for no more than $150 a piece. For reconed ones I would not pay more than $125. True, asking prices are sometimes high, but the deals are out there.
Consider a recone would cost around $150 or more.
So - make your math and see if this one is worth it.
I prefer to test the actual speaker on location, since sometimes sellers would say it sounds ok, but then when you play an instrument through it you will find out the voice coil rubs. If you are inspecting the speaker yourself you can easily test the cone for free movement, look closely at the details, etc.

Good luck,
Ran
