HEY, YA FINKS! My name is Derk Brigante and I am the host of the greatest Surf, Rock 'N' Roll and Instrumental show in the Windsor-Detroit area: The Surfphony of Derstruction! It's no easy task to be the best and that's why I'm making some posts to let all you surfinks know about the show! The Surfphony of Derstruction is on CJAM 99.1 FM, a community radio station broadcasting to the Windsor-Detroit area, every Tuesday evening at 7 PM (eastern time). So, you're asking "WHAT IT IS?". It's a one-hour program with SURF from around the EARTH. We stick to all things Instrumental with some vocal tracks here and there. No Garage Rock here, The S of D is always down at the beach or up at the strip! This is a Canadian-born show and that means you get a taste of some Canadian Surf! Classic Canuck surf such as Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and Huevos Rancheros and current Surf ensembles such as The Reverb Syndicate and The Blue Demons can be heard!

The Surfphony of Derstruction has been on for a couple of months now so there's quite a few shows to check out!

Here's a couple of links to check out:

Blog for The Surfphony of Derstruction. Each post contains YouTube videos, playlists and an album cover of the week!

This coming Tuesday is Midnight in Salerno, The Surfphony's very first theme show! It's all about Night-Time Surf, if ya catch my drift!

I'm always looking for new and tasty Surf! If you want your music featured on the show, let me know! I love to hear new Surf and I like to help up and coming Surf bands get a chance to get on the airwaves! If you have an album of at least 4 or more tracks, I can also see about getting your album put in CJAM's music library, specifically in the Detroit River Surf Initiative, a specific spot in the music library for Surf music! PM me for details if you can dig it!

Please check out The Surfphony of Derstruction and let me know what you think! I hope you will dig it as much as I do!

Bumpin'!

The Surfphony of Derstruction is doing its first theme show tonight at 7PM (est)!

The theme is Midnight in Salerno! If you finks have ever heard Midnight in Salerno by Los Straitjackets then you should tune into this episode where its all about Nighttime Surf! DIG IT!

here's a link to CJAM 99.1 FM's main page with an online stream available!

Derk,

Great show! I just found this and downloaded Novembers shows, I listened to them all. SOunds really good. But I did not hear a single Volcanos tune and they are right across the river in Detroit.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks
Guy

Hey, thanks for checking out my program, midwestsurfguy, I appreciate it! I know, I've been slacking on The Volcanos! I'll make to play them in the near future!

BIG BUMPIN'!

This coming Tuesday (Tomorrow!) at 7 PM is The Hudson Bay Surf Party! All Canadian Surf!! Hear classic Canadian Surf such as Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and Urban Surf Kings as well as kool new Surf ensembles such as The Blue Demons, The Reverb Syndicate and The Von Drats!! Tune in for some maple-syrup drenched reverb! WOO WOO WOO!

Tune in at CJAM's website with our online streams!

Playlist from last week's Midnight In Salerno is also up at The Surfphony of Derstruction blog!

And one more thing, if you're looking for the latest podcast then CLICK HERE for it and many others!

NEW YEAR BUUUUMP

Hey Finks! The Surfphony of Derstruction is still going strong in the new year! I recently did a 2-part theme show SURF... IN SPACE.

IN SPACE... NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SURF

CJAM recently had a website crash so it looks like the podcasts are down for the time being but KEEP TUNED IN! I'm sure they will pop up soon. If you're looking for the Surf in Space episodes, they are January 18th and January 25th. The episode of the 18th is really cool and the episode of the 25th had a lot working against it (unforeseen circumstances) but it's a pretty neat tribute to Joe Meek!

Here is The Surfphony's blog as well! Dig it!

I just stumbled upon Derk's podcast while looking into thte Toronto Surf Guitar thing scheduled for June. (It's 520 miles from Joilet.) Enjoying the tunes, so far lots of attitiude, some psychobilly cultural traits showing, very hard edge, like Jason Lee typ stuff - more kinetic than melodic or harmonic. Not like that's a bad thing. Like strong coffee or better, Wild Turkey 101 straight.

Squink Out!

It's only about 110 miles up to The Revomatics & The Madeira on the cruise boat in August. Cool

Edit: Forgot to thank you for letting me know podcast is going; I'll have to check it out.
