I'm still trying to figure out what kinda job lets someone PCS to Nam with a Showman. All I got to take was a duffel bag. Laughing

Of course! A super-secret squirrel piece of NSA jamming gear.

Hard to believe it wasn't recovered at some point (not disputing, just commenting). Doesn't look like the head ever even got warm.
Nice classy guitar-porn, thanks Dario!
Thumbs Up

Wes,
You're welcome! I saw that amp in an eBay search and thought it so gorgeous it needed to be shared. Big Grin

Hey DaBoner,

Uncalled for and completely rude. Joking is one thing, but insulting is another. Might want to slow your roll a bit.

I'm really not insulted, more disappointed that our board has frat boy humor. We've been fairly fortunate, no thanks to me, that our board has had a level of decorum when it comes to making bold claims and how we react to such things.

The amp looks clean, but the price is too high .. don't you think?
Those amps weren't born to live in a combo cab! Free them! Wink

When you have to shoot ... shoot! Don't talk.

This thread needs a cat.

"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been"

The price from the auction seems high.
I paid 2000 Euros for a 1961 Showman a few years ago (which is like a gift here in Europe!).
You can see it here directly on the left under my "name".
It had the original owner in the town Nürnberg, and then a 2nd owner who just had him in his living room for many years and played not a lot. So mine was also super clean. I`ve played it two years ago on our East Europe tour. Of course there are some dents after a tour. But a Showman wants to be on stages.

Twang cheers!

The price isn't high at all. This is a collector piece, this will not be bought to played. People love clean stuff like this, and it can increase the value ten-fold.

It is a very small amount of people who would pay this amount, somebody somewhere will buy it at around this price. They will be haggled down $500, as the seller likely expects.

The ebay listing really isn't as much about selling it on ebay as it is advertising.

I agree. Besides financial resources, serious collectors often have similar items in less than pristine condition or multiple of the same item which they can move. Over time, they continually trade up and refine the collection. The tolex looks right to me, because of the knothole stains and the fact that both head and cab condition and color match so perfectly. Unless another comes around in its original box, I think it's safe to say there isn't a cleaner one around.

A draftee (US 56......)sent to MP school in GA who arrived in country that had a First Shirt who was trying to gather up some boys in his unit to start a country band so he could get rid of the locals at the clubs.

Only bennies were all day shifts, a quick set of stripes to buck sgt; sure as heck did not want to work mids or swing shifts and did not like the babes. Like my Showman, I prefer blondes.

Cheers Cheers Cheers Cheers Cheers

In that instance, a most worthy cause. Bad motel lounge karaoke is often better.

OK, back to Brownface Showman things.

The video attached to the auction says it all: "I'm not a player." These are the guys that drove prices out of this world. He got a pretty penny for it, too.
