In 1975 Rhino released The Savage Surf by The Winos. I'm checking many records after 70's but this seems to be the first one playing rough punish style (sounds like Surf Beat by Dick Dale) How do you think the origin of after 70's garage surf music?

GNP/Crescendo released a Dick Dale LP in '76 - Greatest Hits:
Tracklist: These were mostly new recordings, not the originals from the '60s. You can find them all on this GNP-Crescendo CD:
These rerecordings are in general pretty cool, I like them a lot. They were usually different enough from the originals that it's interesting to hear them. "How do you think the origin of after 70's garage surf music?" The Blues and Soul bands of the 60's kicked surf up a notch. A little more funk and grit in the guitar sound. And not every player could have a Showman with JBL's. Alamo, Supro, Silvertone amps would distort at volume. Garage bands could afford a SIlvertone. Just a thought. — |

Just found this thread! I am from the first wave era, so as the genre of surf waned, I always listened for new stuff. In 1972 I was living in Hermosa Beach. A great Surf Film came through town called Five Summer Stories. It would come around yearly with new footage added. The soundtrack was recorded by a band from Laguna Beach named HONK. A lot of their songs were vocals, but there was one instrumental that was background for Jerry Garcia's surfing in Hawaii, called "Pipeline Sequence". It was refreshing to hear a new surf tune!
