Permalink Surfy Bear Fet Reverb unit Sold -

New Topic

Sold To JonPaul! - my Surfy Bear Fet Reverb unit - built last year - uses an Accutronics pan, and completely stock configuration - basically a smaller version of a vintage Fender tank. I built the cabinet, and did the tolex - it turned out really nice. Smooth blond tolex with gold grill cloth.

Sounds great - I think these are a great alternative to a tube driven reverb tank.

"Hey Chris, if it's so bad ass, why are you selling it?" Good question! I have a literal sh!t ton of reverb units - vintage, Gomez, reissue, blah, blah, blah.... And I just bought two more Surfy Bear kits - with some cool ideas for those builds.....

I have $130 in parts in this - plus my time and labor - so I'm thinking about $275 shipped. That's a deal. I figure I'm making about 3.25/hour at that price. I make more at my real job flipping burgers. Don't let anyone else tell you that these a snap to put together - there is some serious time involved to build one this nice. Plus, the handle is off of a REAL VINTAGE Fender Showman amp circa 1967. You can hear how much the handle adds to the vintage tone - believe me. Smile

I'll pack it well, and it includes the power source ( not seen in the photos) - which is a good one -

Damn dude, you ARE getting good!

I do dig the Jaguar knobs.

I think I'll build one of those just for the hell of it.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

It is badass, hope someone snatches it up!

Yes That's a beautiful build & love the cab dimensions.

Ok, folks who say they have no skills but are ruminating over wanting an outboard unit & tired of comparing pedals, and on a budget blah blah... Here you are! Smile

Thanks for the compliments - it was a fun project. Still, I can't help but wonder why nobody but JonPaul has contacted me about it. after all the talk about these, I thought I would have sold it.
