When I was in Art School back in 1990, I knew a guy who was all into these trashy '60s Japanese bands that played Yardbirds covers, and probably Takeishi Terauchi and other real geniuses, but I never paid his taste any mind because I thought he was just being arch, like Mike Patton's Fantomas delving... |

I would think the Japanese amps would be far more common in Europe than the USA. Didn't the US have pretty hefty tariffs against Japanese products in the 60s and 70s which would have made these amps much more expensive than the domestic amps? — |

Those speakers are pretty unusual! Polystyrene voice coils? "The speakers are not to be pushed too hard, coils can heat up and melt the cone" — |

I'm just quoting the eBay page. I would interpret that as: don't play too loud for too long! Seems unlikely that a speaker coil would get that hot. If you're putting 100W into it, it's going to generate some heat, but whether that would be enough to melt polystyrene? Odd choice of material. — |

Oh, this is just a not well known material... We play them LOUD since years. Never had ANY problems with them. Even no heat problems or resulting melting problems. Twang cheers! Ralf Kilauea |
