Where can these old amps be found today at such bargains? I've only seen a Teisco Checkmate once in a shop in Calgary (where I sold a small Gibson combo & picked up my Harmony Rocket!) and never anywhere else I've lived in North America. — Squink Out! Top

Seems unlikely that a speaker coil would get that hot. If you're putting 100W into it, it's going to generate some heat, but whether that would be enough to melt polystyrene? Never had ANY problems with them. Even no heat problems or resulting melting problems. The Yamahas seem to be highest guality amps! An amp nerd told me once that even the wood what Yamaha used has got resonant characteristics. ...but I don`t know about woods...
