I just saw it on facebook - sad. I got to see him and Bob Spickard at the Deke Dickerson guitar geek in 2007 I think - seeing him nail that glissando on "Pipeline" again and again was really cool! —"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been" |

I can't think of anything I've heard in music that's left as indelible a mark on me as that opening glissando. When I was a little kid listening to my dad's cassette comps, that song, particularly that opening glissando, grabbed me and never let go. It's still one of the first things I do when I pick up a guitar, regardless of where I'm at or whether I'm plugged into anything. I like to think I get it right half the time. —The Mystery Men? |

Very sorry to hear about this, may he RIP. Reventlos, I am convinced heaven does exist. This is very sad news indeed. Like many people, Pipeline did a number on me when I was a kid, and it subconsciously burrowed into my brain where it turned into a full on surf music infection later in life. The opening Glissanado of Pipeline IS the very embodiment of surf music for most people. RIP Brian and too all who knew him personally I am sorry for your loss. |
