Hello all,
the current thread about the Bambi Molesters Brazilian Tour reminded me of this nic vid I had seen a while ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlcg5EKQqlU
It features a band called the penny black remedy and the Bambi Molesters. For me very cool: Bambis are performing 2 songs - one with Dalibo on vocals (I like it) and a song featuring heavy horns - for me it sounds like a "Balkan Traditional" (me just guessing). I love this song and especially the Bambi-performance. Also rare: these vids are featuring the Bambi Molesters playin' Jaguars - doesn't sound too bad at all too.
Song 1 (with vocals) is at about 4:40
Song 2 is at 13:00
I wished some stuff like that would have been on the DVD.
Hope u like

It's a great video. I'm not sure that a video posted on You Tube can be called "rare", mind you; anyone can view it, after all.
The Jags are mine, by the way and, if you watch really carefully, I'm in the video!

You are completely right about a video on YT not being "rare".
But you might probably agree, that there are not many videos showing these songs played by BM and maybe these are rarely part of their shows (?). Furthermore searching for live performances of BM on YT will not likely show this among the first 20 or more... I guess many BM-Fans haven't seen.
So, it seems like you were involved - so can you share some information on the background of this great video ? Or in case you know something about the second song, which I really like a lot.
have a nice day

You're certainly right that those songs are not the most widely known. I've no idea what the second one even is.
I was only involved in so far as I was asked to lend them some guitars for the night, which I did. The gig was organised by The Penny Black Remedy. Their female singer is Croatian and is a friend of the Bambis, but lives in London, where TPBR are based. I assume that they also organised the video, but I'm not at all sure about that. It was a great gig, in a great venue which, sadly, closed very shortly afterwards.

"balkan traditional" song is actually "Exotic" by Rhythm Kings. But it does sound like balkan folk song:) We do it for fun sometime

Wow, this video has already had nearly 10,000 views! Incredible!
Matthias, thank you for posting this! I'm not sure I'd seen it before, but I definitely GREATLY enjoyed it seeing it now. Really liked the Penny Black Remedy, and the Bambis were really ON - Dinko's soloing on "Good Times" was truly impressive (and the song also made me appreciate even more that the Bambis have stuck to exercising their talents through the instrumental medium ), and the version of "Exotic" with the horns was freakin' awesome! Love the original by the Rhythm Kings, and the Bambis really captured its great vibe and spirit. It seems that the energy at this show was just off the charts, really wish I could have been there!
Thanks!

Thanks Ivan! The video was made by Alan Rae, very talented guy. And the show was crazy. There were 300 people in the club which means it was sold out and for London this is excellent. The best parts are not in the video Sadly, I think the club closed down right after our gig.

That really was a great night. The video should have shown Dinko in the crowd during Latinia. And maybe him breaking the tremolo on my guitar!!
Did anyone else notice the continuity error in the video, or is that just me?

One of the first surf songs I ever heard (beyond Wipe Out etc.).
back in 1986/87. I'd stumbled on Dick Dale, so bought a cassette called Original Surfin Hits.
Think it was a Del-Fi compilation. It had "Latinia", and "Church Key" amongst others. I really liked "Swingin Piper Soul" although it's more Ron Burgundy jazz-flute than surf!

Hey there !
glad, that you like it - I think it was worth posting... I regularly watch it from time to time (so maybe 35 of the 10.000 views are mine )

Well, for some seconds I saw a Jag with Humbuckers was wondering who is playin' it. Dalibor & Dinko are having usual Jag-PUP-equipped Jags...
It that, what u mean with the continuity error ?

The humbucker on Dinko's Jag, right? Where did that come from?

Glad it's not just me that sees these things.
As I recall, someone else had brought the Jag with the humbuckers along. Dinko played it on some songs, but not on that one. Whoever did the edit obviously didn't notice.
For the completists, after Dinko broke the trem on the sunburst Jag (I'm only kidding; it worked its way loose internally and was an easy fix), he played the red one and Dalibor played the sunburst. I've just recently sold the (Japanese) sunburst and got a decent price too, but maybe I could have got more if I had stressed the Dinko/Dalibor connection

Dalibor, do you know what was the track the DJ played straight after you finished that night? It seemed like the entire Croatian population of London was there going completely mental! As I said, a great night.

At 6:17 there is a humbucker in the neck pickup and at 6:26 it's a single coil.
