I am willing to trade this wonderful 1958 Harmony 1311 Brilliant archtop guitar for a comparable value Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Dipinto, or Fender tube reverb unit. No Squiers please. I love this guitar, but I am playing surf music more and more, and this one is not getting played. It is the highest end archtop Harmony made, according to this website- http://harmony.demont.net/guitars/H1310/59.htm
Before buying this one, I borrowed a Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin II cutaway from a friend for a while with the intention of buying it from him, and after hearing this Harmony, it was a no brainer. The Godin didn't even come close, and several of my friends agreed.
I bought this guitar from a guy who had a Kent Armstrong jazz pickup installed, as well as a loaded pickguard with a tone and volume pot. It sounds fantastic plugged in. It has very low action, and plays as easy as a regular electric guitar. It has a lot of finish checking but is very stable and has no structural issues. I just recently paid the luthier at Lowe Vintage Instruments in Burlington to go over it and make sure. He repaired a place of back binding separation and a couple small cracks on the back near the binding, and that is all it needed. They are a very reputable shop and would be glad to describe the condition of this guitar to you.
The guy I bought the guitar from paid over $1k for it a few years back when it was more of a seller's market, and I paid $700 for it last year, plus $100 more to the luthier at Lowe Vintage Instruments. A nice tweed hardshell case is included.
I am in central NC and would prefer a face to face trade, but I would consider shipping.

Here is a clip of a friend of the previous owner playing this guitar. I think it sounds better in person, but it does sound nice here, and this clip shows how good the playability is.

Wow, talk about quick turnaround! Congratz and I hope you dig the new offset or tank that you traded for. Now that your (nice!) vintage archtop is off the market, maybe someone will bite on mine. And I'm assuming you found your deal locally, which is even better for me since we're like 40 miles apart.

Ehh... I didn't trade for either. I ended up with yet another Danelectro, I'm a sucker for them. It is, however, my first vintage one, my other 2 are reissues. It is a U-1 that was branded as a Silvertone, they were made between '58 and 60. It sounds and plays fantastic. I may keep it and sell/trade the others, or sell/trade this one, who knows. I came out a bit ahead in value, and there is some demand for these things, so I didn't mind.
I'm ok with just playing my Strat and finding a good reverb unit, when it comes to surf music.
