I don't know if anyone here reads it, but the weekly free digital guitar magazine Tone Report has a nice article on Surf Guitar, what kind of gear, techniques, etc. You can read the magazine here:

Thanks for the link. I saw it in my email last night, but you beat me to posting it. What do you think of some of the comments, like, "Though genuine surf rock bands are something of a rarity these days... " Made me wonder if the author had checked here first? Probably not. Think someone should tell them?
Not bad publicity overall, though.

I thought it was a nice article, for people who don't play surf themselves and want to give it a try. And it is the first article I read on surfguitar that not even mentioned Dick Dale once. All though he talks about Man Or Astromen in the last segment. He did research certain technical aspects, but failed a bit in the musical context part. A list of historical and contemporary acts would be nice for the audience he wrote it for, beginning surf guitarists or otherwice surf interested musicians.
And like you said it is not bad publicity overall

It's on the upper right side of the same page, above a large-typeface quote and a picture of a Strymon Flint.

My favorite quote is, "In surf guitar, too much reverb is just the right amount." Yep!
