Hi everyone,
I would like to buy a good 4 ohm 15" speaker for a tone ring cab project.
I've read good reviews on the 15" Weber NeoMag, but unfortunately it's not available from weber anymore due to unavailability of parts...
Does anyone have any to sell? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Weber California is very good. I have one in my 15" tone ring cab. It's supposed to be a JBL D-130 clone.

Indeed shipping costs an arm and a leg...
I think I will give those weber california a chance. Matt did you choose alnico or ceramics? aluminium or paper dome ? it's the aluminium dome too bright?
thanks for your advices

Another option you might want to consider is the Peavy 1501-4BW which is their in-house built steel guitar speaker. I have several of these in several different cabinets including a single 15 tone ring Fender. They have performed well in every cabinet that I have rotated them in and out of. If I can't have my favorite EV-15L's (and there are some 4 ohm ones, rare but they do exist), they are my plan B.
They are indestructible for what we use them for and you can even rebuild Peavy Black Widows yourself at home if necessary. That's a neat feature. US Speaker has them as well as a new Eminence 4 ohm neo, aluminum cap guitar speaker for steel guitars. Pricey but available.
Aluminum caps look really cool and they can be "detuned" to remover some of the annoying bite if necessary by masking off the paper cone and spraying the cap with several layers of clear spray paint. I've used Krylon to take some of that bite out and that worked really well. They look stock and sound better.
Information overload,

I have a Commonwealth, and I am even flying to Spain in a couple of weeks, but will be with my family and it is quite a hassle to bring such a speaker. Lorenzo had it in his hands this past summer and decided against trying to fly it because it would have been damaged in the suitcase.
But going back to advice, besides the options mentioned above is the JBL M151, which is like a 4 Ohm K130 that JBL built for Peavy, before Peavy started making the Black Widows.
Good luck,
Ran

The Surge!'s long time bass player Mitch Matrix used a pair of the M-151's in his bass rig's two 1-15 cabs like in WoodyJ's pix, which was often times powered by a Bassman 400 head. Those were awful tough speakers for K-130 clones.
It took Mitch quite a while to find the second one. Kind of rare they seem to be.
Story goes that JBL pissed Hartley off and so Hartley hired their number one musical instrument speaker engineer to build their speakers in house.

I've tried them in all and I can't really tell a difference. Alnico or ceramic

I second that Matt. I can't hear any difference between 6k6's and 6V6's in a reverb tank either.
