Crumb, it's not too late to go on Priceline.com and book some tickets to LAX for next weekend - should only cost about 2 Mastery bridges —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

OK let's make it 5 mastery bridges. Still, it's a cheap education in live surf music. Though I guess SurferJoe would have been even cheaper. —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

Here's an idea, just throwing it out there. And it could potentially end in disaster. But I'm a member on another forum dealing with gadgets where they have a pass-around subforum, where one piece of gear is purchased, and then passed around by the different members interested in trying it out. Admittedly, $170 is a lot for a bridge you're not 100 percent sure you're going to like, but perhaps if those of you who trust one another who are interested could split the cost like 6 ways or however many ways, and mail it around from one member to the next to try out. I'd imagine that at least one person who tried it would want to keep it, and they can buy the other samplers out of their shares when everything is said and done. If I didn't already own one, I would definitely be down for giving something like that a shot. |

I so nearly went to the SurferJoe Festival this year, the bassplayer is half Italian and was up for it but my passport had run out so i'll just have to wait until next year. I can't tell how much i want to be in America, there isn't a graph or scale large enough for that dream |

So not true! I spent a couple weeks dialing in the bigsby on my esquire (running it on a 3 saddle vintage type bridge, not the tone sucking fender kit), and I can assure I easily see the roundwounds sliding back and forth. Works a charm and stays in tune as well as my offsets now, but I spent alot of time polishing/angling the nut cuts, and working the bridge. And alot of time staring at the bridge |

Once the instrument is strunged with proper string gauge, I can't see no reason swapping out the stock bridge. The problems with strings falling out of position f.ex. I think it's better to rethink/work out another pick'ing technique, buzz and rattles (my exp.) is just a symptom of a porly set up instrument in combination with to light/weak string gauge. |

Hello guys, I have recently installed a Mastery bridge on my Jaguar, I had troubles with the stock bridge that moved all the time and that I had to readjust after each playing. The Mastery fixed that problem, but I found that with it I lose the resonance of the strings behind the bridge, that makes the sound of the Jaguar so specific. Did you notice that with your MB ? I am wondering whether I have badly installed the MB (but this is hard to make it wrong). Or maybe it does not work well on my Jag that has already a modern touch (that's the 50th anniversary version with reduced distance between the tailpiece assembly and the bridge, to have more pressure on the bridge). I'm thinking to come back to the stock bridge with some loctite to stabilize it. Any feedback on this problem would be greatly appreciated —Yannick Lead Guitar in Blackball Bandits : https://blackballbandits.bandcamp.com/ Last edited: Feb 03, 2015 14:04:27 |

I changed my Jaguar stock bridge for a Mastery, its works well, stays in tune, etc but . . . lost 'that' Jag tone, not sure what to do now —'Surf Music Lasts Forever' |

Same here. Great workmanship and intonating the Jag was like falling off a log. Tone-wise, I strummed a few times and it was very metallic sounding for me. Pulled the bridge, swapped back my TUSQ-barrel saddled bridge and it was luscious warmth. —Last edited: Feb 03, 2015 17:28:11 |

I tried Tusq saddles and removed them after a short trial. They rattled like crazy, too much space in between the saddles. I felt like I was losing too much string vibration. I used the buzzstop too but I have the Mastery on there now and to me it is still a Jaguar sound...only better. I guess you need to define what the "Jaguar" sound is because to me they vary a lot. |

Yeah, still the Jag sound to me. Just more of it... It doesn't sound too far off from a perfect set-up stock bridge. Just more even frequency. |

The guitar still has the Jaguar sound with the Mastery, but I noticed that the string resonance behind the bridge is gone, while we could clearly hear it with the old bridge (especially unplugged). Actually that might be an advantage for some players, but to me that was part of its interesting sound. Having the stability of the Mastery Bridge and keeping this weird string resonance would have been perfect, but I guess that's part of the design of the MB. My problem with the old bridge is that the saddle screws fall out to the point that the action lower and notes don't sound. Thus I have to rise them again after almost each playing. That's why I'm thinking to seal the screws with threadlock. —Yannick Lead Guitar in Blackball Bandits : https://blackballbandits.bandcamp.com/ |

String resonance should definitely still be there. Likely, you Jag before had very little break angle and now it has a bit more. |
