I'm glad you posted this. I thought the Dwell on the tube units had to be pretty near the top. Tone a lil on the dim side too - interesting. I'll have to take another listen knowing this stuff now. —Fady El Mirage @ ReverbNation |

Now I also know why you like the MOD pan, cause you can't really hear the tail that much with this tone setting —http://www.reverbnation.com/bangmustang |

I compared in immediate succession A1,B1,C1,D1,and E1 and repeated the process for those tracks a few times. They all sound purdy good although B1 wasn't giving much dwell on the melody notes - that may be due to the setting. I preferred the sound of A1 and C1 overall but not by any great measure. -Marty "Hello Girls!" Last edited: Jan 18, 2015 13:42:59 |

Very interesting. Gotta say that "A" was the one that most appealed to me. How much that depends on 1) its settings and 2) how similar it is to what what experience has tuned my ear to desire I cannot say. Looking forward to hearing what was what! -dom —Still rockin' after all these years! |

Thanks for the nice comments, folks! I'm glad you all enjoy this and we can do a little quizzy with reverbs Some of you will be totally stunned by the results! But as I've mentioned already, this comparison does not show the reverbs performance in a band situation. That's something totally different. Personally I do hit my pan with a booster (which I didn't in the recordings) and I don't play a Jag with 12s (prefer the Mosrite/Hallmark sound when playing live). A short comment regarding the setup: I usually play a part on the higher notes, like the 2nd part of 'Ali Baba' or '02' in the recordings. I try to find a balance between ice-picking and drip. Set up the dwell high, to get a good amount of drip, then the mix up to the point where the reverb starts to become '3D' and finally the tone knob against the icepicking up to the 'sweet spot'. If you do it like this and you go back to the lower strings (while keeping those settings) and you still get a nice drip when playing palm muted, you basically have a nicely set up reverb sound, IMO. I decided to reveal the result in a video, as soon as I find the time. A quick question: Would you prefer to hear the samples in the video in the order of: A1, B1, C1, D1, E1, A2, B2, C2, etc. or A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B1, B2, B3, etc.? What do you think would display the differences more precisely? —Last edited: Jan 18, 2015 15:11:29 |

The first option, I think, would let folks isolate the difference easier than bouncing back & forth. Great quiz; much fun. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

Started making a video. Need to take some pics of all the units, otherwise it will be a very boring video to watch Stay tuned. After all this testing and comparing, all I can say when I hear a dry guitar is: |
