Got to meet IM right before they took the stage on their first US tour. I had a great spot right up front on Dave Murray's side and they completely blew me away. "I was just talking to that guy"!!! I didn't know what to expect because I was there to see Priest! Paul Di'Anno was on throat for that show. "I'm a wrathchild!!!"

Quite amazing! It was at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in 81 and it was a strange show at that venue because metal was not big in MB at that time. We were running late getting to the show and there were few people filing in and we walked past their tour bus as they were about to go back in to play. We stopped and chatted for a minute. They were all smiles and really excited to play. I did a few air guitars to Dave and he did a fist pump. We got in the door as the lights fell and I pushed my way to the wall and up came the stage lights and there's Dave again right in front of me. I was then schooled on what metal had become in the early 80's. After that and seeing Priest I left that show a changed man! These two bands in 81 wrote the book on what metal would be for decades!

Another great memory we can all relate to......dropping the needle on The Number of the Beast for the first time. A little fear crept over me and an overwhelming sense of exuberance as the opening riff snaked it's way to the buildup screams! It made 82 a great year!

Bad news! (Well it could be worse, I guess....)
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have released the following statement:
"Just before Christmas, MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson visited his doctor for a routine check-up. This led to tests and biopsies which revealed a small cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue. A seven-week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumour was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good. Bruce's medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May. It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness. In the meantime, we would ask for your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy until we update everyone by the end of May. Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team are very positive."

If I had the money, I'd buy one of the last SH editions.....the blue & silver one. Not so big on the newest one.
Looking forward to the new album. Kind of just OK on the new song. May take a few listens, without the distraction of the video. Having said that, I'd play that video game all day long!!! lol Love Eddie in 8-bit.

I didn't know another was due out until I read our latest issue of Rolling Stone and saw the review.
Awesome!
Cheers,
Jeff

Nicko just farted. Dave thinks it's funny. Steve and Bruce are pissed because, well, metal. It hasn't gotten down to Janick and Adrian yet, so they're still in "metal band picture" mode.

Listening to Bruce D.'s fun and revealing interview from 3 days ago, with Jim Norton and Jim Florentine, at Opie's channel. These guys are experts at opening up guests.
