I saw a great acoustic guitar summit (Doug Smith, Mark Hanson, Terry Robb) while visiting friends in Oregon. They were playing mostly Christmas stuff, when, right in the middle of the show, they introduced "that Malibu Christmas classic", "Pipeline". It was quite good, and probably got the strongest response of any song played, all night. At 62, I was a youngster among this crowd. The little ol' grannies and granmpas were going wild!

Bob,
Your post reminded me that Hawaiian slack key guitarist Berry Flanagan of Hapa often includes Sleepwalk in his concerts. A couple of years ago he played Walk Don't Run to open his show. He bends the neck of his acoustic using pressure on the headstock for leverage to get some vibrato.

The small town where I work has PA speakers playing music in the streets all day long during the holiday season. A few days ago, just as I was leaving work, they started playing Surf Rider by the Lively Ones. In these parts it's extremely uncommon to hear Surf music even on specialized radio stations so that was REALLY unexpected, and made my day.
Ha! The very same thing as last year happened to me this afternoon, but with Misirlou. Gotta remember to drop by the town hall and ask who chose the playlist

Not really surf but... Local Atlanta boy Jim Stacy has a show on the cooking channel called "Offbeat Eats". The intro background music is Southern Culture's "Too much pork for just one fork".

The Lively Ones's "Rik a tik" in the (excellent) movie "Big Eyes' by Tim Burton. I hope George Tosco got a nice fat paycheck! Also, "In My Room" by the Beach Boys.

Very cool video. Some nice shots of the Palos Verdes coastline, Point Vincente lighthouse, and L.A. harbor. Even downtown looks great!

Tahitijack.
The lens covers a full frame format (equivalent to a 35mm four perf full frame). ARRI PL mount, which is available on the Red Epic.
Glad you guys enjoyed it. I did too!

Thanks, the RED HQ was across the parking lot from my office building in a building my company once occupied.

There's a program on Flemish and Dutch television about the origins of our food, last night it was about the pressure cooker. In the teaser I saw earlyer this week, they used the song 'Morgana' by The Phantom Four and last night I was pleasantly surprised to hear our own Los Venturas version of Bubamara. Haha, they used to see if you can spray soup up against the sealing with a pressure cooker.
Watch the soup erupts

As many of you know I recently changed jobs (which is always a scary decision). Well my new employer just made this funny video for their flagship product, and unexpectedly surfish music appears at the end (Edit and Hall of the Mountain King throughout!). The video is also interesting (at least to me) because it was filmed in the same building that I work and I can recognize some coworkers.
I guess I picked the right employer.

That's a really funny and effective video, Brian! I was laughing almost the entire time. Tell your bosses that at least one of your friends thinks it was truly well done.
So, any idea why the inclusion of surf music at the end? Or what it is?

I have no idea. Maybe I'll ask around. I know my company worked with a local filmmaker's group to produce the video. I'm guessing that was their call.

Boy Brian, that is really neat! Congrats on your new job! Me too on kudos to the suits.........
I was recently looking into the history of the long running folk group, The Seekers. I stumbled over a video of them performing as at top-40 type act on an Australian based cruise ship before they hit it big and instead of folk they were performing Walk Don't Run. I almost fell out. The Seekers with a Telecaster in 1963?
I can't currently relocate that vid, but I will.
Judith Durham.......such an amazing voice.

While channel surfing last night this got my attention. Delta has had a few other commercials with good background music. Not quite the Shadows or Ventures versions but well done....

That new job thing must be catching. I started a new one a couple weeks ago, after nearly fifteen years at the same place. I'm drinking from the firehose instead of surfing the wave, but so far I like it.
