Just thought I would share an e-mail that I recieved from Franki Blandino of the Fathoms. I had asked him what was happening with the Fathoms, ect.:
"the third album is done..some surf, spaghetti western,r+b, and shadowsy stuff.....just waiting for art work etc...all new faces except the sax...the blandingos sort of fizzlled...the fathoms are playing live as a trio these days thanx so much for your interest.
frankie"
Its about time for another Fathoms album. I cant wait!

I've heard talk of the next Fathoms album for like 5 years now (mainly coming from Art at MuSick). I hope this time it is true. I'm glad he kept the same sax player. Hopefully Frankie overdubbed rhythm guitar parts on the CD, at least.

The Fathoms' "Overboard" is one of my favorites and I've been trying to get a copy of "Fathomless" for a while now, though it looks like I'm gonna have to pay through the nose if I want it. Great tunes and yes, Frankie has some serious drip.

we played with the fathoms in somerville, mass., in october '06, and whoever frank had in his band that night was awesome. frank didn't use a tank; his playing was inCREDibly clean, and he did a great hank marvin.
i'm looking forward to their next CD. maybe 2011?

Much as I love the Fathoms and honor anyone else who does, too, I see a connection here. Is it nasal drip?
It'd be nice to run into Fathomless. All I know is the title cut - I think - from the Bikini World compilation. I'm sorry to hear it's so hard to find!
Glad to hear about the saxophonist being the same. He is definitely essential.

I LOVE The Fathoms! Their tone, arrangements, and recorded performances are always just right! Think they'll head west for any shows?
I'm lucky enough to have 32 of their songs on my iPod and will be listening to them for the rest of the day. (Groovy Boots is on now.... very cool!)
Can't wait for the new stuff!
