While not my personal favorite style of music, I think you did a great job for the vibe that you were going for. I enjoyed it.

I totally agree. If it's a perfect clone of the original, it's not a cover, it's a tribute, which, shows a lot of talent, and is fun to watch, but when listening to a recording, if it's the same as the original, why not just listen to the original? —My Web Site - Tunes - Pictures - Guitar Projects - Hard Rock Cafe Guitar Pins |

I like it swell! we also cover Diamond Head in harder manner like Huevos Rancheros and liked it better than the original cause it's got a kind of "more balls" and groove this way) —Waikiki Makaki surf-rock band from Ukraine https://linktr.ee/waikikimakaki Lost Diver https://lostdiver.bandcamp.com |

i like the original spin on your version. it's cool to try things your own way. the wah sounded more like an auto wah in most places, but then in some it didn't. but overall the recording sounded very well put together. i like that version by Huevos Rancheros. never heard it before... pretty cool! i've been thinking lately about trying to use a wah in a surfy song... but every time i try to i end up in Curtis Mayfield or the Dramatics land. |

Thanks! Looking back, I think I would have scaled back the wah a bit. I think there are some parts where helps to add some expression.. and some parts where it doesn't and it's just... there -like auto wah. But hey, live and learn. No one mentions the phase-shifter on the "surf dive" right before the bridge!! haha. I should have made it louder and more pronounced, maybe even executed it a little better. I like that part but I always have to point it out to people. That's my bad. But anyway, thanks for the words man! Glad you liked it and appreciated my take on that song. I basically taught myself guitar with my dad's copy of the Walk Don't Run album. P.S-I like the Huevos Rancheros version too, haven't heard it before but they definitely have some soul. And Twang Dude, I just picked up my guitar and played your version of the bridge. That's pretty damn brilliant, adds a lot of character. good work! —https://soundcloud.com/mantisrex Last edited: Dec 19, 2014 12:42:33 |
