These videos were posted in the Southern Surf Stomp thread in the Show Announcements forum, but I'm so proud of the job that we did - especially Chad on rhythm guitar, Jay on bass and Sean and Sticks on drums (and Jet Powers on acoustic guitar for the Penetrators Southern Surf Syndicate Theme), that I decided to post them here, too, in case people aren't reading the Show Announcement threads. We played a 50-minute set of music by the Madeira, the Space Cossacks, DD, the Atlantics, the Shadows and the Penetrators without a single band practice - went into it totally cold. And those guys KILLED it! I was completely blown away. These are not simple songs to play but they pulled them off like they'd been playing them for years! What talent! What dedication to learn all the details of those songs in advance! I'm really grateful to all of you, and here's hoping we get to do it again at some point! Thank you, Chad & co.!

Two YouTube videos are attached below, and here's the Space Cossacks' The Space Victory Theme, posted on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152537803578634&set=o.1566193463611644&type=2&theater

Enjoy!

good stuff boys, impressive job well done.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

It was a really great show, and I have to echo everyone's comments about how damn flawlessly those guys pulled it off. Jay was studying pretty hard beforehand, I know, and when I congratulated Sean (drums) afterward he was happy but also relieved. I think it was a bit of an endurance trial for the guy Smile

Chad and anybody he brings to the stage with him are going to have a certain level of competence and conscientiousness so you can expect that from now on for whoever needs a backing band at one of these events.

This is unbelievable! Chad is an animal and the whole band just sounded great on video. No practice! You are the man Ivan!

Oh and SSS theme song just kills!

Smile I hear that from my bandmates (in both bands!) all the time. You've definitely gotta build up some physical stamina to play most of this music, especially given the setlist that Chad picked out, which was one rager after another - the only slower song on the list was Undercurrents! It also applies to me - I have to really practice hard before shows to make sure my chops AND stamina - AND in particular the double-picking! - are up to par. I actually love that about this music. You can't just play it meekly, you've really gotta play with complete and utter commitment and focus, putting your entire self, physical and mental, into it. And I think Chad, Jay and Sean absolutely got that 100%, which is why they did such an amazing job!

Here, here!!! Really, I can't recommend them enough!

Thank you, Dave, but I really had it much easier than the other guys, who had never played these songs live before! They're the heroes of that evening, hands down!

Oh and SSS theme song just kills!

Thank you, Dave and Carol! I agree, that was my very favorite moment of the whole night! Pure celebration, 100% fun! Jeremy put it really well in the Southern Surf Syndicate thread:

The last song of the entire night was an awesome Penetrators song that Jet played Acoustic guitar on along with everyone else, and it reminded me of the end of a movie where everyone is partying and having a good time!

Yes That's exactly right! A night I sure will remember for a very long time! Thank you again, Chad, for making it happen!!! Worship

The new songs are mind blowing! I'm floored here...
Lucky bastards, those who catch the Madeira live.

Thank you VERY much, Ariel, really happy to hear you say that! But I think you meant to post this in the thread on new Madeira videos, not the Southern Surf Stomp videos... Very Happy

That's right I did! Somehow couldn't find it...
Now that I've seen this one too, my comment stays Big Grin
I still owe you a review on Sonic Cataclysm (learning new superlative words, my vocabulary is boring...)

Very Happy Thank you again, Ariel, but you don't 'owe' me anything, I'm just very glad to hear you're enjoying it! Yes
