Where can one get a US-made Accutronics pan these days? I got a MOD pan to replace my old US Acc. (terminally fuzzy) and notice the reverb tail is very long. I liked the shorter tail of the old pan and would be quick to invest another $20 in an alternate pan to get more of a vintage sound with less tail.
I see an outfit called Sound Enhancement Products (SEPI) that writes that Accutronics was sold to Belton in 2009. They don't say where the latter manufactures its pans.
Antique Electronic Supply sells South Korean-made Accutronics (Belton?) pans. Maybe I should go back and peruse those comparison videos on youtube to see what's up with that. Here is a link to a pdf on AES's site that includes some sound considerations of several different makes of pan (pp. 11-12)
I also found this: [Studio Sound Electronics "Revisit" Reverb Pans] (http://amprepairparts.com/reverb.htm#4) – they are selling (apparently foreign-made) pans for $34. Anyone tried them?

I bought my Accutronics in 2010 I guess it must have been on the shelf for a while. I also get a fuzzy noise but only when I've connected the RCA cables the wrong way round.

Ha! not really but it might mean there's a short somewhere around the in/out's maybe. I not savvy enough to debug your fuzz problem but if it was mine the magnifying glass and eyepiece would be out!

RCA cables -
so the best cable would be one with 4 wires + shield, as the RCA grounds should NOT connect? what about a more compact 5 pin plug instead of 2 ramshackle RCAs?

Further thoughts about a rack mount case, It might be possible to dismantle the pan so that only the springs and mechanism exist within case (ditch the tin pan surround or at least some of it) that would keep the case height factor to a minimum...
Great idea! If some factory can mount the transducers, why not we. Just need to be VERY careful and exact, any change to position of the magnets or tension of springs would change the sound, or even render it unusable. A pan would have to be sacrificed for trial and error.
I personally wouldn't tinker with the springs though, they are made to very specific specs and tolerances, for a reason! That would be extremely hard to recreate.
But I'd love to see the results of your experiments. Fun with springs!

Not! I'm a total hack, but thanks. Worked with PA companies, so I picked some basic skills. Other than that I just learn as I go along.

A description of the signal flow and switching features of the effects array posted above might open new vistas to awesome live sound for us punters.Particularly interested in how the ABY is used.
I'm constantly switching things around. In the setup pictured The Radial is just used for mono routing, the actual split occurs with the Maggie stereo outs.
Jazzmaster -> TurboTuner (best strobe tuner) -> Greenhouse Remedy Fuzz (crazy thick to horn-like) -> ChiWahWah (buffered) -> Maggie (lush vibrato stereo [passive] split) -
-1-> Surfy Bear -> Showman ch1.
-2-> Empress Multidrive (super versatile dirt+EQ) -> Memory Lane Jr. -> Semaphore tremolo -> Showman ch2.
I love playing with parallel routing. The important thing to consider is having a buffer (an on pedal) before a passive split, or one for each line. Otherwise, you lose signal fidelity and will experience unexpected volume jumps. Best for this scenario actually would be an active splitter, at the beginning of the chain. I plan to build one straight into the SurfyBear pedal.
But let me say: nothing sounds and feels as good as guitar straight to reverb straight to amp, tho! With the SurfyBear I can experience that now 1st hand. They are right!

At the point you hear it, of course!

This thread is the most engaging on the SG101 site, because of its 'wiki' character – offerings of creative solutions to the 'problem' of bitchin' real spring reverb. There are precious few things gong on like this here. Is Bjorn tracking mentions of his Surfy Bear on other guitar-related sites, e.g. The Gear Page?
Indeed to ALL that! Björn can collect all references, pics and testimonials as marketing material, and post or at least link to them on his site.

Ariel.
What! one of these.. (below) absolute cinch for a DIY expert like myself (laughs).
I somehow forgot to complement you on your fabulous futuristic SBFR creation, in fact you should be arrested for making something too cool
Although I've had my SB working for a little while now yesterday was the day I screwed the back door on and considered it finished. It is an amazing piece of kit and can't get over how brilliant it sounds, I'm thrilled to bits with it. Huge thanks to Bjorn!

Ran through 45 minutes of extreme surf through the fetverb last night at a show. The 1970 Twin Reverb on 4-5. Sounded incredible and the crowd was absolutely drenched!

I am excited about the Surfybear; I even read thru
all 19 pages. A couple of questions I hope folks
can answer:
--I went to order the kit and it is out of stock; any
idea when it will be available again?
--Where are folks getting their chassis? If I
want to buy one now what is a good size?
I promise to make a cool one, thanks in advance
for your advice❗️

I've used this from AES -- 13.5x5x2" Larger than needed but fits nicely in a Reissue-size cab. You could even use a similar size baking pan, like one would use for a meatloaf -- just check with your S.O. first because … well, just trust me on this
AES has most of all the other parts you might need. Its best to order all your parts from one supplier so you don't incur several shipping charges. They also have reverb pans, knobs, handles, off/on switch, etc.

Good luck! And post pics of your finished tank!

Björn (aka bjoish) is the person making and selling the kit. He will probably answer your question soon in this thread. You can also shoot him a PM directly.

Hi kbee, sorry for the delay.
I will soon have the version of the board available!
The new R4 PCB is almost the same as R3, but the size is reduced and a few improvements added. I will start updating the website next week.
Its a lot things going on right now, new test jigs, new documents, pictures, webpages, testing-testing-testing.

Finished the build yesterday. It sounds fantastic!!!!! My build certainly didnt do it justice. I will post a pic later.
I didnt enclose the board fully and it is covered on 2 sides only due to the enclosure it is in. I am not experiencing any hum etc.... As I have never had a reverb tank what other issues should I be looking for with the board not being fully enclosed?
I am very pleased with the sound. Awesome job SuryBear!!!

Here's a relevant, ongoing thread at TheGearPage.
It's certainly drawing some attention. If someone here is registered at TGP, (who's 'rumbletone'?) maybe a link there to this thread would be nice.

Wrong! Very cool build. Looks like that tank is in good company. Can I ask what you used for an enclosure?
