Product Description

With its offset waist, contoured body, and 24" scale fast action neck, the new Vintage Modified Jaguar® gives a nod to its iconic forbearer but has other things going for it that make it truly 'modified'. The unique top-loading hardtail bridge features string saddles which are adjustable for intonation and designed to have a 9.5" radius when sitting flat on the bridge plate. The bridge is anchored at the rear of the plate while the front sits atop height adjustment screws which can be raised or lowered to achieve desired string height/action while subtle adjustment at the rear (anchor) achieves the correct bridge angle. The Jaguar HH is equipped with a set of Duncan Designed™ pickups which offer a multitude of "hot-rodded" humbucking tones. Other features include '62 Jazz Bass concentric volume/tone controls, vintage style tuners and a comfortable one-piece maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.

Picked one of these up today off C.L., in Fiesta Red with hsc for $175. It's basically brand new, still has some of the plastic wrap on the pick guard. I'd probably rather have one with single coils, Trem and all the switches, etc... but seemed like a decent deal and I really like the color, and so now I need to decide if I'll give it to my son (he's 8 and learning to play on a Squier Mini Strat, which is probably fine for him for now) or play around with it myself.

Thing is I'm not really a guitar player (mostly a hack drummer), but kind of trying to learn guitar alongside my son.

May make a project out of it eventually like someone else on here did with the tobacco burst version of this guitar and a Teisco? trem. That was a pretty cool project.

My band had a rehearsal today and I went there straight from picking up this guitar, so I brought it in and our two guitarists played a song each on it. I thought it sounded pretty damn good, especially in our lead guitarist's hands. He said the action was pretty high and the height adjustment screws on the hardtail bridge were bothering his right hand, so I guess if I have a question it is this: I see many discussions about replacing the VM Jag bridges with Mustang bridges, but that all seems to be based around the traditional style Jags with trem, so I guess I'm wondering if there's a recommended bridge replacement for this, or is there a reasonably cheap trem/bridge assembly that doesn't require too much modification? Other recommended mods? I don't want to go too crazy, and maybe all it needs is a good setup, just curious what other's experience is with this guitar, if any. For our needs now, any old thing will do, I just thought this one looked cool and was cheap so grabbed it up.

Cheers.

To be clear, it was this guitar (realized Pollo's title says Jazzmaster and the link's no good anymore):

Also picked up a free Fender Princeton Chorus with red knobs as well.
It was a good day.
