Might be worthwhile to compare your own copy with that of other builders to see if they are careful to avoid mentioning Fender. Boss/Roland must have an extensive license with Fender to make so many emulator pedals named after their amps. Wampler makes a 'Tweed Pedal' whose copy does not use any specific Fender nomenclature (leaving it to musician respondents to cite the Bassman in their accolades).

Yes, they do.

Many manufacturers (including some pretty big ones like Vox/Korg) do not explicitly mention the model and, more importantly, the brand they're trying to copy. But then Line6, while coming up with their own semi-transparent names for their amp models, or using non-copyrighted nicknames such as "plexi", do clearly mention which brands and models they're based on, with just a footnote saying
*All product names are trademarks of their respective owners, which are in no way associated or affiliated with Line 6. These trademarks of other manufacturers are used solely to identify the products of those manufacturers whose tones and sounds were studied during Line 6's sound model development.

Just completed.....the Surfy Bear FET Reverb. It was quite a project just to house it but aside from that, the REVERB sound is impressive!!! Thank you Bjorn for the work put into this circuit design.
The housing itself is an empty Fender amp cabinet that I modified smaller for portability (just enough to fit the reverb pan). I saved the tolex pieces from the chopped off portion and reapplied it to hide the seam where they were joined together. Don't think I'll ever do something like this again! Looks like it was easier to use a 'vintage' toolbox.
The circuit board was purchased as a kit to save me time and the cost was very reasonable. I placed it in a chassis box and paired it with a 12v regulator circuit (because we all know that wall warts are always over the voltage they're rated for).
Here are the pix:

Nice work Billmag. You're sure to have a couple of people asking where you bought it!

Thanks guys...and yes, it looks like a Mustang amp head (didn't really ask but for $20, I didn't care). I should have taken some pictures when it was cut and the process of piecing it together. Advice for anyone else attempting this, use small dowel inserts for alignment and wood epoxy to join it as gaps will be present. Also precut (using an exacto knife) and remove the tolex prior to cutting (jigsawing). The other thing that frustrated me about the build was the number of times I visited the hardware store for parts....even when I thought I had a completed list. Well worth it for the final outcome - a spring reverb sound that rivals the Fender '63.

Thanks Ludo! We'll be playing it live this Saturday when we take the stage for the first time. It's a great venue and hopefully the limited rehearsal time we have had gets us through this first gig. The Surfy Bear will be on full display!

- That is a GREAT sound. Best of luck at the gig.
- Those Tahitian counter-swells are bad-ass; great selection for the video.
Might actually have to seriously look into one of these things.

Hey thanks Cambreezy! Gotta love the surf!
Speaking of shows. We are going try to do a surf/instro night at Beachland at some point. The band we are opening up for at Musica is called the Beyonderers and they opened for DD in July and Los Straightjackets a few weeks ago. Doc (the guitarist) is a buddy of mine and he can get gigs just about anywhere in NE Ohio. The more the merrier!
What is the name of your band?
Our gig is actually Friday now that I look at the calender. We have had a short rehearsal schedule and hopefully we play well so we can continue putting on shows together with The Beyonderers and others.
Talk soon Cam.

We're Surfer Rex I think TomH from our band contacted you late last Spring about a Surf Show at the Beachland but it fell through So yeah, we'd be up for trying again.

Nice! So there's three bands right there!
Dec 5th, we're openers for Exit Verse, a band from Chicago, at … Now That's Class! in Cleveland. We've got a new rhythm section and they're kick-@ss.
And to get this back on-topic, I too will be rocking my finally finished Fet-verb:

Of course. Now I remember Tom. I got the invite but there was no way we could do it. We hadn't even had any band time at that point, just a some recording sessions in my studio with our drummer Tim. You guys have a great song list to choose from and way further along than we are at this point.
I screwed up my post last night thinking our gig was Friday but it is Saturday. Wish us luck so we can be included as being the third surf/instro band for some great surf shows in Cleve/Akron/Canton. Our rehearsals have come together but I find I play my best loud and fast which hasn't been how we have been putting our rehearsals together as we have been trying to hear each other and get everything tight. We need to push the envelope in these last couple rehearsals!
I'll try to get up for your show on the 5th!
Dave

Really like the no nonsense look with the Dymo labels, lot of charm there. I keep seeing those cables with the heavy duty plastic covers, could you tell me who makes them.
