The Royal Aces were very excited to have the king of surf drumming, Dusty Watson, sit in with us at our gig last Friday night in Denver. What a master!

That's a powerful image, wow! Dusty's a monster.
Surf, not for the weak hearted...
You can't lose with that mad intensity behind you... unless you have trouble keeping up! Big Grin

Dusty is a beast. The one time I got to see Slacktone, I couldn't get a good picture of him. Still pictures don't work.......you need video!!!!

Dusty is the man! I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him when he was touring with Dick Dale years ago. We talked about his days with Mike Palm and Agent Orange. Really nice guy and a MONSTER drummer.

Either you surf, or you fight.

Plus he loans a beautiful blue sparkle kit for the convention every year.
And let's the touring euro bands use it at the bar shows and tiki oasis gigs.

I'm trying to think of something to add, but "he's the man" pretty much says it all...

One of the best drummers (surf, punk or garage) I had the pleasure to see live.
Here he is with the Sonics in Belgium last july:

Absolutely, it's always a joy to see Dusty going the full 200% on his drums. I saw him quite a lot with Slacktone over here in Belgium and earlier this year with The Sonics, fantastic!

Below a video from Slacktone that I shot 5 years ago in Belgium, Dusty's expression says it all.

Not to mention he's a super kind guy and we (and many other bands) were so lucky to use one of his nice drumkits while in CA.

John,

I am so sorry I missed it. Stupid stomach flu!! Dead

Dusty IS the man, but in this pic, he's one of the Boys.
