Permalink Vintage Penetrators on RV Rooftop

New Topic

Stix posted these on YouTube just now. For some reason, the guys are playing on the roof of an RV (where are the amps?). The clips are short and the camera is shaky and wanders, but it gives you a good idea of what the Penetrators were like in their prime.

Great stuff! Inspring, I thought about doing something similar on a flatbed truck or something like that at an Angels game, might have to go through with it.

Man, these videos are EPIC! From what I understand (wasn't in the know back in those days) when Rip started Drive-Invasion here in Atlanta, they would play on the roof of the concession stand and everyone would turn their cars around and shine the headlights up on them for illumination. Always so creative!!

Do you know the date of these videos Jamie?

That I don't know, and to be honest, I'm not sure they do either... haha!

These are from 1995 or 1997. I know this because we are playing at the Legendary Legion Field in Birmingham, AL prior to a football game between The University of Alabama and Tennessee. Some poor sucker let us set up and play on his RV overlooking the 100,000+ fans strolling about clueless of where the music was coming from. It was sketchy up there because the roof was very flexible. As you notice, not a lot of jumping around! The amps were placed near the edge where it was sturdier.
And yes, we did fear for our lives! Especially Sticks, who we thought might flip over the back of the damn thing.
Surf music, Alabama football and danger is how we spent our Saturdays!

Exceptionally cool. Crazy fun. I feel privileged to have met Trace and Stix at SG101 Conv VI. I now proudly sport an S3 sticker on my JM case.
