Oh I know! I am getting it color matched.

8 strings looks way too much of a hand full for my liking but I've often thought the extra low end of 7 string would work for surf music. Good for you for trying something different!
Can you do Pillars of Creation yet? Smile

Holy shit that is tedious... My brain can't handle stuff like that and I love ambient music...

British racing green with white pickguard and rosewood fretboard is a winner too!!

When I think of Sherwood I also tend to think more of British Racing Green (Jaguar - the car, not guitar), which is obviously not correct. IIRC Fender had a run of Sherwood Strats early this year and they looked much like the pic I posted. Anyway, still a nice color IMHO.

I haven't tried, but I'm sure I could! Sounds fun for sure!

I can play a lot of Periphery and a little Animals as Leaders, that's been a lot of fun and very challenging. Next up in line is Chon! That stuff is hard.

Maybe some plini or Owane too?

Prog is fun!

Also gotta try some more slacktone. Fun stuff!

IMO.

I think I am going to get a Jag body finished like this... I am debating between this or Sherwood.

Definitely Sherwood... The red/white/blue is somewhat tacky IMO. Sherwood is pretty cool:

FWIW, I agree. I like the darker concepts of Sherwood Green or the Aged versions more than the actual color.
About a year or more ago Fender built some Esquires in the code correct color. I didn't dig them much myself. Those newer Strats you mentioned look a lot better.
When my small shop has built a guitar that color in the past we've actually used darker greens but I'm just now completing a non-darkened Sherwood Esquire that the customer specified.

Green Jake, do the green. My vote. The picture Preston posted of Johnny is a pretty cool take. Great color, almost a dark Ocean Turquoise.

And Preston, That 8 string monster is crazy! I'd get lost ( I often do) but I could see how some really cool music, surf or not could be made on that.

Cheers,
Jeff

Yeah Jake!

Preston, in case you haven't heard my plans for my build... Obviously there is a body in Sherwood Green, that will be paired with a '66 Duo-Sonic neck I picked up, the 'duo-sonic' on the headstock logo was removed so I will replace with a 'Fender Jaguar' logo, not sure if I'll replace the whole decal or just try to put the Jaguar part on.

Gonna do the AV65 Pickups that I am a fan of, I got a Wronski-style plate that I will put a four-way switch in with the fourth switch being parallel. For the control plate, I got a Marr-style plate and one switch will be a universal bass cut, and the second switch will be for the bridge only and will be an Esquire-style bass boost/darkening. I don't really like neck pickups but I miss the tone they give, really what I'm looking for is the snap of the bridge with a fuller/deeper tone. Hopefully I get that! 1M pots, awesome random tone cap that will be decided on a whim and whatever is laying around.

Rounding it off with a vintage vibrato and mastery bridge.

Should be cool!

Sounds like a fantastic guitar! Jags are teh bestest.

What color guard are you going for?

IMO.

Oh, yeah, this thing is great.

The weirdest and coolest thing I've found about this guitar is that it's so easy to make the switch! As long as you learn to base your placement of the fingers on the highest and not lowest string, it becomes very easy... Even more so if you tune the lowest string to E. I've had lots of fun with it so far!

IMO.

The one detail I forgot...

AVRI Mint, scored one for $25. I was going to go for a Fenderparts or Portlandmusic one, but $25 instead of $95-125 is way better. Also, my Burg Mist AVRI guard has some nice aged color to it after 14ish years of existence.

Nice. Tort could be cool too... But then I'm weird like that.

Then again...

IMO.

That looks like some spitfire right there. That is to say... not what real tort looks like contrary to what that guy believes.

I should add, getting a light yellowing, light checking, and a VERY light relic with just a few small nicks to not make me feel bad about doing so myself.

Haha, yeah!

His goal isn't usually to make "real" tort, though... He makes what people want and what looks good to him... I kind of like that.

He has done "vintage" tort:

I like the more ridiculous ones, though... Just look at this:

Ya know. To each his own, but I really think he does the best tort on the market now.

IMO.
